• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sticking "M" button on panel

I have a sticking "M" button on the panel that is causing starting problems.

It seems to be binding with the panel hole. Nothing has been spilled on this panel and I have used silicone lube on the button and panel. No success with the lube.

Need advice with this fix.

I don't know how to fix it, but people have had that issue before, I use the one on the handlebar so its never a issue!

Hey, Ken. Search for a post by Lamont on this issue. He took his apart and re-glued the little magnets in there... they were loose.

:agree: After reading about the issues others had with the dash mounted "M" button, I have never touched mine. I just use the handlebar button. Once you get yours sorted out, I would recommend you leave it alone and rely only on the alternate "M" button.

The magnets come loose inside the rubber which causes the problems. These are cover/replaced under warranty if needed.

I had mine done last year in the fall.

It is a common problem BRP snowmobiles have had for years.

Thanks for posting, this just reminded me that my wife's is missing the "S" button. I need to contact the dealer and have them get one of those for her as well.

Same here. I couldn't get the Spyder started one time after I first got it. Learned to only use the handlebar button and have stuck with that method.

Many thanks for...

the guidance on this problem. Some times it is a real bear to get it to start. I'm going to try Lamont's fix... then if that doesn't work I'll contact Lake City for a new one.

Again many thanks for the input.

What is the alternate "handlebar button?"

Hi all,
I am not having any problems with the M button on my '08 SM5, but I was unaware that there is an "alternate handlebar button" that could be used instead. Where or what is it?

Doug, it is located on the front of the handlebar (clutch side). Serves all the same functions as the "M" button on the dash.

It's not supposed to be...

a comic strip? I thought that is what was on the pull out. Doggone it I'm wrong again!
