• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Steering recall feedback request

patch

Would members that had the steering recall patch installed be so kind to tell us if the Spyder rides any different? I am not planning to do it for a while until I have mine serviced and wonder if I should rush it more.

Thanks!

J
I just had mine serviced today and they told me they will replace it but its no big deal

:clap:got the recall letter from BRP today. had it done yesterday along with the ground wire and shift fix.steering feels a little smoother at all speeds

:agree: I just had the software updated and the steering does "feel" smoother at all speeds. Thanks to Gary (Service Manager) at Richardson MotorSports for squeezing me in during my lunch break today.

Good. Glad it worked out well. I'll have mine done next week some time. Did Jeremy actually do the work?

After an extended ride today through a lot of twisties, I can say that my steering is MUCH better now.... rides like a whole new bike.

Just got my letter yesterday. Also got a call from ISCI and they are shipping the handbrake today. I am just about due for service and I am going to have the dealer install the handbrake since my mechanical aability is practically nil. Haven't had any steering problems yet, but not that many miles on the :spyder:yet either. As I have mentioned several times, the handbrake is what I still miss from the two wheel days.

I'm going to have mine soon as I can get it in.

And the price $1,200 :yikes: ISCI wants for the hand brake in my opinion is Ridiculous. :gaah:

I thought it was just me . . . .

. . . I got the update today during my 3,000 oil change. I cannot be sure, but the steering felt smoother / more responsive / faster and the Spyder felt more agile - at all speeds. That matches what everyone else is saying.

I only did about 60 miles after the update, but roads and some common turns that I take felt different ( see characteristics above ) and all in all, I think better, but I had no problems or issues before this. I will be out a lot more tomorrow, so I will see, but I think the changes are something that you adjust to very quickly and will not notice them a few days after they are done.

I will try to safely practice some high speed maneuvers soon, but that may be next week - or the next time I encounter a highway "adventure". Until then, I will try and keep the speed down and become familiar with whatever changes are now in the Spyder's brain.

Well I put mine in for service today figured even though I have not had any issues with steering I might as well get the recall taken care of. Soon as they went to reprogram it the bike said nope! Threw up abunch of error codes and the power steering totaly went away. They have a course of action from BRP if a bike does this, contact BRP for authoraztion for a complete power steering unit. of course this is a Saturday so no one to call until Monday.
After the issues that happened with mine another Spyder came in for the recall, and glad to say his took the reprogamming just fine, so that tells me the problem was with my bike. Im glad it happened to me when I was not riding, just sucks it will be in the shop for a week or so..guess Monday ill be putting fresh tabs on the Harley.

I got mine back this afternoon. The steering seems more sensitive and responsive. Maybe the placebo effect. I have not encountered anymore jerking. After I had reseated all the relays that were very loose, almost to the point of coming completely out. I did not have any more jerking. This was done Wednesday. The fix was done on the Spyder today. Service mgr said he learned a new trick. The 1st "fix" he performed on a spyder took 3 hours. Using a laptop and wireless router. They moved my spyder closer to the modem and the fix only took about 20 mins.

I've had my tech do 5 steering software updates including my own. On each one I rode it first, then he did it, then I rode it again. It seems like it is slightly more responsive and smooth at all speeds. I would say that if you're intimate with your Spyder, you will notice a difference for the better.
And, before someone get silly... by intimate I don't mean :cus:... well you know!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

HUH !! please explain... I don't get :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack: it ??

Interesting.. my dealer said he got a CD with the software fix.... hummm.... I just wonder..as I have nt driven enough miles to actually notice difference.. I will this next week.

So don't buy one.

I WON'T! I'm not that foolish with my money. Those that are don't have it long. That & $900 for thier floor boards is insane. I can get really nice HEAVY DUTY floor boards custom made from my dealer for $350.
