Steering issues and / or possible DPS replacement cost

2011 RT Limited:

Last night on the way home, I had a to turn onto a street and my Steering felt like it was gone (like when the bike is shut off). Then I stopped in my driveway, put it in reverse backed up while steering quickly side to side and then back up into my garage doing the same, steering seemed fine. My fear is my DPS may be the culprit and will need replacement at some point. (THERE ARE NO CODES). It just happens at random.

1. any suggestions?
2. If replacement is needed, is it expensive?

Thanks for your help in advance or if anyone has any advice.

The DPS is the single largest user of electrical power on the bike...
