• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Steering damper

No ..!!

Don't know that anyone makes one. The dps pretty much does this job. If you find one or adapt one would be interested in how it works out...

If you are having trouble with the Spyder wandering along the road, following every road contour, or feeling unstable at speed, the problem can normally be traced to one of two things...overcontrol as a result of driver inexperience or a motorcycle background, or inadequate toe-in of the front suspension alignment. Inadequate tire pressure or unequal front tire pressure can also do it. The Spyder is very stable if handled properly and set up properly. For operator overcontrol, try holding the handlebars softly, like cradling an egg. Let it go down the road without correcting every twitch. The steering is quite sensitive. For alignment, have it aligned using the Outlaw (ROLO) laser alignment system if possible. And before you do anything, check the tire pressure. Note that Spyder generally like a couple more pounds up front than the manual recommends.

I am not trying to correct wandering. Not having a problem with wandering. The spyder has the same feed back in steering on bumpy roads that a lot of the ATV's I have had over the years. I installed a steering damper on the ATV's. It took 80% of the feed back out of handle bars.

Can you do a steering damper on independent suspension?

The way we did on the quads was by making a clamping bracket that attached to the steering column.
Then a second bracket attached to the frame. With a small steering shock between the two brackets. Very simple and worked really good.
The shock we used was off of a VW bug.

Anyone ever try putting a steering damper on a spyder??

Why when you have a Digital Power Steering unit to handle the swing, sway and vibes.

If you could find room in the front suspension area you could maybe fit in a compensating shock absorber but it would just take more steering effort and probably end up terminating that $1,500 DPS module. How many do you want to purchase?

Have you ever tried this yourself?? Or is this something you are just guessing about?
