• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Starting to get occasional error lights

I have about 5K miles on my 2010 spyder, and overall it has not been bad since they did all the recalls. Recently I started to get periodic-steering position error lights, and Saturday it went into limp home mode for the first time.

I removed the key and started it again and the lights were gone.

The dealer said they are "phantom lights," and its "normal. If I stop and restart and the lights are gone it was nothing more than I communication error. After al he says, this is very complicated machine. So is my car and it doesn't give me phantom warnings.

The other theory I was given was that maybe I was lightly dragging the brake-can that cause this sort of error?

Finally, for a machine that I paid almost 30K for, there should not be any "phantom, don't worry about it," lights.

There is no such thing as a "phantom" warning...each has a cause. Whether that is a sensor, riding the brake, a communications error, or something else, there should always be a culprit...no matter how obscure. Perhaps the "phantom" is your technician. He should be ashamed.

will ive told every body i can so here gos agin make sure to check for loose fusses and relays ,they vibrate loose and that will cause all kinds of trouble, and check your battery wires make sure there tight they also get loose from vibration.i check mine ever 500 miles and found them loose.and other than that ride like the wind and have fun i do.:D:2thumbs::chat:

:agree:

While we are not standing there listening to your dealer and only get little soundbites as you tell them... My guess would be this...

BUDS is not getting error codes on a lot of these "Phantom" issues. So the dealer can only guess as to what may be wrong. Then spend hours chasing after a "Phantom" issues only to never find any. Most dealers want a code so they can charge BRP for the labor. Otherwise they have to eat the labor or charge us.

At that point the dealer should be giving the owner the choice. Ryde it or pay for a chase...

No light is an actual "Phantom" it just seems that way for now. They will get it figured out.

I am willing to bet serious money that most of these are cause by the battery not staying fully charged and fuses/breakers not getting full contact. And more likely... Some of the computer programming needs a little more fine tuning to reduce these as the bike runs normal again after a simple on-off attempt.

:agree: very ashamed

Yep . Riding the brake will do that .

:agree: keep an eye on your foot and if the lights continue take it to another dealer for their diagnosis. Just like going to the Dr always good to get another opinion and you are right spending this amount of coin should be no phantom lights and error codes
