• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Starting negotiations

In the next few days I or my husband will be beginning to canvas dealers trying to negotiate our best price on a SM5 Spyder:2excited:
The lowest quoted price I've found anywhere on an '09 is from Howard Beach Honda in NY. $14,699 on their website.

While I don't expect to be able to meet that price locally, I would like to know what people here think is a realistic price to aim for. Luckily, I'm not in a desperate hurry to have one right this second. I can shop around. I also have a flatbed trailer to bring my baby home if it's too far for my first ride. I'd just rather not be trailering into NY city with my rig or I'd jump on the Howard Beach price right off.

Please chime in with your thoughts about a good price to aim for. Thanks in advance for your replies.

That does seem like a great price. Did they mention any additional costs i.e. freight/handling/setup, etc.?

The red alone adds $400 (maybe more this year), so you are about $1100 under what I paid for my silver one last year (before any additional charges.)

They just have a Yellow one on the front page of their website with that price. I'm sure there are extras: dealer prep, etc.

There are a few BRP accessories that I will want added. But, do you think that's such a good price that I should think more seriously about a drive to NYC?

YOU GO GIRLFRIEND! WOO HOO! Guess you had some fun on Sunday, huh? Congrats!:2thumbs:

I bet that price doesn't include set up and delivery ... Should be a little over 16000.00 with all that added also it's worth spending a little more to local dealer this way when you need something done they go extra mile for you

I think there has been a price decrease nationally on Spyders because I am also looking to purchase and my local dealer here in the sticks first dropped the price on the yellow and red to match the silver about 6 weeks ago. Now this week the silver dropped to 14699 and the red/yellow are 14999. Oh yeah now my company is downsizing which elevated my pucker factor towards a spyder purchase this month. Damn you economy!!!!:banghead:

You're in Mississippi? I'm surprised the bikes are over $10k...

Just kiddin'...get one while you can...those prices are very, very low...check for other hidden charges you're not seeing on the sticker...many times the dealerships will hit you hard with delivery and set-up fees...

Not too long ago some dealer on eBay was selling new '08 SM5s for $13.6K out the door. I think doc fee is only $100.

Cool! Cool!

Back in July of '08, the price for a 'base' SM5 was $15,500. There was no negotiating - at least in my neck of the woods. And, of course, it took a full 3 months for it to arrive. :)

Our local Dealer here in the Albany area (Seymours, who are great people to deal with) Is at $15.999 out the door except for sales tax for an 09 SM5. I called just now.

It is in stock and ready for delivery now.
