• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a GS roadster that is an automatic, it will not start, it just clicks. says it is in first gear but I can push it without resistance so I assume it is not in gear. This happen one before and I can't remember what I did to get it started. Any feedback would be great.

Since it's an SE5 it will roll in gear, so that has no meaning if it's in neutral or not. The display is likely correct. When starting a SE in gear your foot has to be on the brake. Is it?

You have three basic choices, since you can apparently hear the starter relay kicking in. One is a bad battery or connection. The battery should read at least 12.7 volts before use. A battery that reads less may not operate the starter or work the electronics. While cranking (or trying), the battery should remain at 10.0 volts or higher. A battery that takes a full charge can often fail a load test like this. If the battery passes both tests, the starter may be seized up...which is less likely. It could be possible for the engine to be seized, too, but that is even less likely.

Don't assume anything in regard to the battery condition. Test it with a multimeter to be sure...and check the connections at the battery (inside the bodywork) and the positive and negative jumper terminals, just to eliminate any possibility of a loose connection.

Thanks I will put a meter on it. just seems odd the way happen. fired right up no problem then shut it down anf then nothing but click click.

Fully charged battery should be 12.6 v minimum. Still sounds like a dead or bad battery. Why don't you boost it and see if it starts.

:agree: If hes absolutely sure the terminals are tight, Especially the negative terminal at the battery, [A lose negative terminal will sometimes ark under a starting load and lose conductivity off and on.]

''Then he needs a new battery.''

Battery Question:
These bikes have been out for enough time now...
What seems to be a reasonable battery life for the RS/GS models, and the RTs??
Since I'm a worrier; I kind of figured on replacing mine next Spring in preparation for the new Riding season... but it's only got three riding seasons on it so far...

battery issues

Have you cleaned the battery posts and cable clamps?? use a small wire brush or a knife works too.

Thanks! I'd rather set the bike down with a plan;

Bob , I think for your Plan, You should Plan to meet next week to talk about Planning a strategy session to discuss the next step,
Towards forming a consensus to start the development of a rough draft for the implementation of your intention,
To develop a Plan.
