Has anyone bothered to mention ... NO, DON'T DO IT (to the starting every once in a while, that is)? :joke:
I also subscribe to the Sta-Bil and battery tender routine, but I usually double-up on the Sta-Bil. I have never seen anything that says I shouldn't do that, and I have never had any problems with the motorcycles that I winterize or the snowblower that I summerize.
JBonWheelsblog, Sta-Bil is available in many different sizes. The largest I have seen is about 16 ounces, which will handle SEVERAL Spyders. A 'normal' dose will be 2-3 ounces to treat a full tank.
If you happen to have a nice day and decide to go for a ride, just add another ounce or two, then fill the tank and part the Spyder, as before.
.
OK, Mike, what do YOUR instructions say?..." 2-3 ounces to treat a full tank " .... I suggest you re-read the instructions on the bottle ..... I use the Marine grade Star Tron brand so the required amount may be different .....
OK, Mike, what do YOUR instructions say?
I just looked at my bottle of the standard red original formula, it says "One ounce treats up to 2.5 gallons of fuel."
With a tank size of 6.9 gallons on our RT, ... :dontknow:
OK, we're comparing apples to oranges here.
YOU are talking about StarTron, I'M talking about Sta-Bil.
Two different products for the same application, but two products, nonetheless.
.
My point was that you were poo-pooing my statement about 2-3 ounces would treat the tank and you were suggesting that I re-read the instructions on the bottle. I did. They were correct. I am guessing that your suggestion was based on the product that YOU are using, which is obviously a different product.
I'm out.

Some times, thick skin is required. When you post, you leave yourself open to criticism from many sides. When you start taking it personal, then the fun begins.
If one does not like a reply, ignore it. At least some will agree/disagree anyway.
Battery tenders? Gas stabilizer? Brands? Ounces? Not worth getting entangled by them. Say your opinion, let others post with theirs. The right answer can be many things.
