• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stalling when Idling

I'm having intermittent issues with my 2011 RT Limited stalling when I am stopped at lights. When I took it to the dealer for my 600 mile service, he said I was the 5th owner to say that, but he didn't have a fix. I'm still having problems. Anyone run into this? How did you resolve?

Your dealer needs to do more than just shrug his shoulders and say "I don't know." The diagnostics may give him a clue. If he can't handle it, he should be able to get some assistance from BRP's dealer tech support group. To not move heaven and earth to make things right is irresponsible. Time to apply a little pressure. Frankly, this kind of problem presents a safety issue, and should probably be reported to the NHTSA.

Not sure I'd go so far as to report this to the NHTSA, but to each his own. But I do agree that a dealer shrugging his shoulders is not helpful. You can get your 2 year old to do that for you!

Someone needs to get off the dime and figure out what the issue is. There are a few possibilities but a reputable dealer will at least start looking.

Guaranteed, it's fixable and you should not have to live with it running (or not running) that way.

My guess is a vacuum leak or something going on with the throttle bodies. But my guesses aren't really what you need. Hope you can get some action soon.

Let us know what you come up with.

What grade of gas are you using? When mine was new I used regular (87 octane) in the my first fill up and a few times it stalled. I use midgrade (89 octane) now and no more stalling, but for best gas mileage I use high test (91 to 93 octane). That's IMHO.

We had the same problem. Turns out it was a software problem which was solved by CanAm. Have dealer put it on BUDS and update software for throttle body. Fixed ours and has not been a problem for the last 3000 miles

I have the same problem with stalling at red lights. I have had it on buds and all updates done so far. My dealer is trying to fiqure out the cause but as of yet no clue.

I use regular unleaded in mine but I always make sure to fill up at a Shell or Exxon .... plus I use the Startron additive ... I filled up at our local HEB gas station and had some issues with the Spyder stalling and giving me some trouble but since I have been using a brand name fuel no issues .. not suggesting that is the issue but it seems to have worked for me.

CONFIRM WITH YOUR DEALER THAT ALL THE CURRENT UPDATES HAVE BEEN DONE (T-BODY ACTUATOR UPDATE). IF THEY HAVE BEEN DONE THEN HAVE THEM LOOK INTO THE MAIN HARNESS PLUG AS WE HAVE HAD ONE FAIL AND THUS CAUSE THE UNIT (A 2011 RT) TO QUIT AND DIE JUST AS IF THE UPDATE HAD NOT BEEN DONE. WE FOUND THIS HARNESS PLUG TO HAVE A TERMINAL THAT WASNT FITTING PROPERLY AND CAUSING RANDOM CONTACT. THIS WAS CONFIRMED VIA B.U.D.S AND WE WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE. PARTS IN QUESTION ARE LISTED AS FOLLOWS.
710001870 X 1 housing
710002032 X 1 cover
710001118 X 1 seal-wire
710001869 X 1 terminal
710001867 X 1 terminal

not saying this is what you have but it is something to check out IF THE UPDATE ON THE T-BODY HAS BEEN DONE!
