• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stainless Steel Paint

As part of my hunny-do home projects, I was charged with getting rid of our outdated harvest gold oven color. Our oven is an odd size and is in perfect working order. Instead of replacing, I used a product that coates the outside panels with stainless steel paint. It is rather expensive but contains real stainless steel. The results were amazing. We now have an updated stainless steel oven. More to come..... Jim

That would be an interesting color for a Spyder ….. could you give some info on what brand , seller etc. ….. Thanks , :ohyea:Mike… disregard finding question …. I googled it and found a ton of info ….. The stuff from " GianiGranite " is brushed on and is actually water based …. the DIY network did a nice writeup on this product …. note - the paint is normally for steel/metal etc. however you can paint plastic if you prime it first …..this would not be the Stainless BASE COAT …..read all the info ….. Mike :ohyea:

Jim...

It looks good and worked to address your issue. However, it is not the polished, shiny, brushed metal look of stainless steel - not the look of the microwave above your oven.

Regards,

Don

OOooooooooooooooooooooo! Harvest gold. Had one of them in 1976. Could not hack the Avocado in those days.

Nice job. Thanks for the info.

The picture is a little deceiving. It actually looks and feels like stainless. The amount of shininess is determined by how many final clear coats are applied. We settled on two coats but could have maybe added another. Both wife and I were so thrilled with the results we decided to stop before we screwed something up. In all honesty, you cannot tell it was brushed on. We only learned about this product after searching the internet for new oven panels (which are no longer available for ours). As part of our kitchen update we replaced the harvest gold range hood with stainless. Of course, nothing lined up and there were more than a few bad words said before the chore was successfully completed. In hind sight, I would have used this paint for the hood too. Its been a learning experience..... Jim
