• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Stabilizing pricing?

For those in the market for a new RT, scanning the RT ads, I noticed Spyder pricing seems to be stabilizing in most areas of the Country, with the 2014's being price trending closer to the 2015s.

Latest data shows:
2012 RT "S" SE5 @ $18200 (stable)
2013 RT "S" SE5 @ $16090 (down)
2014 RT SM6 @ $17000 (stable - up, but very few examples)
2014 RT SE6 @ $20000 (up, but very few examples)
2014 RT "S" SE6 @ 22500 (slightly up)
2014 LTD @ $23900 (stable)

While the base 2015 RT SE6 is at $23200, "S" @ $26000, and LTD @ $30000 - so there's still about a $3500 savings available over the new bikes.

Haven't seen much price movement on either the 2012s or 2014s in over a month, so, perhaps the inventories are slimming down, and/or the dealers are looking forward to better weather.

I find this to be much more fun than watching my stocks....

Stopped by my local BMW dealer this afternoon - would that my knees were stronger - and they had a 2014 K16 demo, with Illumina road pegs ($1600), HID fog lights, every option and safety feature a new RT LTD has, a 6 cyl drive train that gives 50+mpg, and only had 1690 miles on the clock - $19K out the door. Sigh....

I had an R1150R 'til last summer, totally showroom condition, I didn't trust myself to
ride it any longer so it's now living in Spain with an ex-pat.....:(

I put 38000 miles on my K12, and loved every one. Just like the Spyder, you have to learn how to ride it, but after that - magic carpet time. Just before my knee replacement, I found that I had to use the electric center stand to mount/unmount, and decided, she had to go. Then, along came the Spyder... and later the RTs. While the RTs are fun, and nicely equipped, they will never be a BMW, and if you've never put miles on a BMW, you'll never understand. Sorry.

Lots of folks put the GW alongside of the K series, and while they are nice, comfortable, reliable rides (yes I've owned one), they aren't a BMW (think Accord Touring to BMW M5).

One of my bucket list items was to pick up a K series in Berlin, and ride to Turin, Genoa, and Florence (via Piza) - now I'll have to do it on a Spyder....
