• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ST Weight Limit Question

As some of you may have saw, I've been talking with a guy about purchasing his used Spyder. I had a question and searched and searched and couldn't find much information on any Spyders, and absolutely NONE of the ST, so here goes...

Has anyone ever gone over the weight limit on their ST? If the wife and I are riding together we'll be about 60 pounds over the stated weight limit. From what I read about RS or RS-S is that they can be a little forgiving with the weight limit, as the shocks have preload adjusters.... If my understanding is correct, there are no pre-load adjusters on the ST.

My main concern is safety, and then of course the health of the machine itself. The good news is we're both doing good on a diet and will hopefully be down below that weight limit soon, but it's still a concern that I have.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't be too concerned. I believe the ST still has the rear preload adjustment like the RS and you can put the fox podium shock kit on the front for $360 to get you all the adjustments that the RSS has

The 2014 ST and 2015 models have the FOX Podium adjustable shocks, the 2013 are not pre-load adjustable. The FOX shocks can be purchased from the parts department or possibly other aftermarket sources.

There was no preload adjustment on the front or rear of my 2013 ST-L. I think the 14/15 models have the adjustable preload on the front. I am not sure about the back. I put Elka's on the front and back so I could set the preload.

60 pounds over....you are probably OK.....BUT....you need to factor in all the weight of your clothing, stuff in the frunk and saddle bags too. Add that all up and see how it compares to the manual. You will need to look into the manual to see if the weight of the gasoline is included into this total weight figure.

So if you are over by 60 lbs on the passenger and also add 40 lbs of other stuff...now you are at 100 over....that may be a problem.

2 cents....
