• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well started out trying to do a quick tire change using info and videos from this site....but...info here was soooo incomplete :(

Info and video make it "look" so easy, but just the little bits and pieces that were missing made the job 2-3 times more difficult. :(

If I had any clue starting out I would have documented each step and taken some pics....but once I got in deep and had things started it was just a matter of trying to figure things out and not dealing w pics. :(

If someone gets the time next tire install, please make a more thorough how to thread. :banghead:

Info on this one sucks, barely helpful at all and I'm only half way through.

Though I'm really mechanically inclined...I'm thinking next time to let the dealer deal with it. :(

Much more of that and the Spyder is hitting the chopping block! :(

Last time I got the rear tire changed on my wife's old RS, I just took the wheel off and gave it to the dealer. They only charged me $60 to remove the old tire, install the new tire, balance the tire and replace the bearings. They also told be that the bearings should be replaced at every tire change. The bearings are cheap, they were only $8 each I think. I put the wheel back on the bike. The way I see it, replacing the tire myself is just not worth the hassle. Some things are best left with the dealer. By the way, I supplied the tire.

I took mine to the dealer. It's 45 to put a new tire on.

But I did the rest and it's not as straight forward as reading here...and I haven't even got to the part of putting it back together. :(

were you holding the instructions upsidedown..?? :roflblack::roflblack: have done so many tire changes in my life it all seems easy and did not even check videos or manuals. But it can be a chore if its the first time. Once you get it done and look back you will say I can do this again no sweat...:thumbup:

I think my problem was that looking at the videos it look so easy, but many steps and parts aren't shown.

Then there's getting the tire mounted....couldn't find a tire shop willing to touch it. :banghead:

Had to take it to the stealership .
 
Haven't put it back together yet, but looks like the belt is going to be a real bear. :(

I did the disconnect the rear shock and drop the swing arm, but it was still "very" tight getting the belt off.

This is true..filming and doing at the same time steps are skipped...some need a cameraman. Those scenes with "now we're gonna followed by now that thats done" can leave you perplexed. Hate to tell you but the tire shop down the hill did mine for free. They do work on my wife's car. Nice guys and good to know. Is it done yet ?? [emoji102]
 
Problem with Lamonster's video is he's working on an older bike with mechanical parking brake. The ST's have electronic PB and I've learned to release it to remove the caliper then turn the key off letting it beep for a few seconds. You DON'T want to put the PB on when the caliper is not on the rotor. Getting the pads apart means removing them to get at the piston head and screwing it back in.

I had a problem with my rear caliper and ended up taking it into dealer where they re-built it only to get it back on and find it not working right. The dealer (Elk Grove Powersports) replaced it under warranty. You'll find some dealers won't as it is a wear item and technically not covered.

Otherwise had no problem getting wheel back in and belt back on. It was the axle bolt torque that got me. 155ft lbs!?!?!?

I turned the park brake off then disconnected the battery.

Hopefully no issue putting brake back on and reconnecting battery.
