• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ST LIMITED 2013 battery drain during ride

Hello everyone.
Guys, I need some help to find solution. I'm basically new can am spyder user and I'm sure is not only problem with my one.
I bought Spyder St limited 2013 not long time ago. Instaled new battery but the problem is with the battery drain. I can't even go outside the village bacause during the ride machine sniffing the electricity from battery so fast and the ride is ending on the side of the road. ������
I can't believe there is no stator.

Charging system is not working. Attach a volt meter to the battery terminals. Start the engine and rev it up to 3,000 rpm. The system voltage should be around 14 volts.

Do you know where to look for the issue maybe ?
Fuse, relay or any other part of electrical system or is the best option to find technician with computer. Its look like is common problem in spyders.
 
There is an RFB fuse by the jump posts at the junction box. But for all tests you really need the shop manual. There are stator and rectifier tests that need to be done.
 
If the fuse checks out. I normaly the check stator output. The 3 yellow wires that plug int the rectifier under bike. Remove right panel from bottom. the rectifier is on top of the lower frame under steering box. With engine at 4,000 rpm.s, you should get 60 volt AC from each set of the three wires. Checking 1-2, 1-3,and 3-2. If any fail, the stator is bad. If all good, either fuse and or rectifier could be bad or a shorted or open wire.. There is a lot more detail in service manual.
 
Its showing 11.2 volt

If it is 11.2 volt is while the engine is running. The charging system is definitely not working. So if you have some mechanical skills or have access to someone who has. Get yourself a digital copy of the service manual. Not very expensive and it can be downloaded quickly depending on your internet speed. Do the tests outlined in the manual. It is highly likely that the stator has failed. But that is very expensive to fix. So it just makes sense to do the testing to make sure you are doing the correct repair.
