Subject: Drive Belt Squealing Noise Under Acceleration
If a customer reports a squealing noise under acceleration, it may come from the drive belt. In order to minimize noise from drive belt:
- Verify drive belt tension - Apply the following treatment to the drive belt.

Carry out DRIVE BELT TENSION VERIFICATION. IMPORTANT: Refer to the latest shop manual for proper procedure.
Drive Belt Treatment
Access sprocket teeth from over or under the swing arm. Apply grease on the rear sprocket as follows:

Steps
1. Apply 0.15 ml of grease (in a thin layer) on the center on 3-4 teeth
2. Turn wheel 1/2 turn
3. Apply 0.15 ml of grease (in a thin layer) on the center on 3-4 teeth
NOTE: 0.15 ml is no larger than a small pencil eraser or a green pea. Do not use more grease than prescribed.
0.15 ML OF GREASE ON A FINGER TIP
CENTER OF TEETH 1. Spread a very thin layer.
Grease will distribute evenly when vehicle is driven.
