• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

squeaky brakes

Since I am new to this forum and this has probably been discussed in the past, what can I do for the brakes when they squeak so loudly everyone around you hear them?

Just had my rear brake pad replaced because it squeled loud, the shop said the new pads were better and didnt squel anymore. The shop only charged me $27 to replace them.:clap:

The Gen 3 brake pads help, but there are some other things you can do readily. First, there is less noise with clean brake rotors and pads. A product like CRC BrakeKleen , followed but blowing off the debris and drying with compressed air, quiets things down for a while. A second cause is slightly glazed brake pads. Try getting up to 45-50, and applying the brakes hard...in a panic stop. You may need to do this several times. Naturally, you should be in a safe place, with no traffic, to do this. For the first blush of noise in the morning, when the brakes are humid, a couple of normal stops usually clears the problem...especially if you stop just a but quicker than normal. Finally, make sure your parking brake is properly adjusted, to catch in a couple of clicks. Parking brakes way out of adjustment seem to increase the rear brake noise, for some reason. You can also apply CRC Disk Brake Quiet to the back of the pads, but that involves taking things apart.

I had the same problem with my brakes, I tried every trick, even some Rube Glodbergish, after 12 thousand miles i finally bit the bullet and put GEN 111 in; 16 thousand now;;
They work:thumbup: No more sounds like a garbage truck stopping:clap:
