• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Squeaky brakes and steering locking up

I have a 2009 Spyder GS, and the brakes made a terrible squeaky sound and my steering was locking up, took it to a local dealer in Columbus GA and they had some updated pads to reduce the noise, and found out that my steering had a recall (would explain my steering issues) And man did my spyder ride soooooo much better after all that was done, the service there was better then what i experinced in Cali, they did all my updates DPS etc, i am very happy that i found a dealer that knows what they are doing and have friendly service, now i have alot more confidence in my spyder and dont have to worry about anymore problems :)

This is a good news thread - thank you for sharing.

Indeed - there was a couple DPS (Dynamic Power Steering) recalls in the past. The older brake pads also squeak and I've heard they've replaced them with a different type/material.

Thanks for sharing! Keep on good terms with that dealer - they sound good! Also, it is a very good idea to keep in touch with the Spyder community so you are aware of upcoming issues/recalls/cool stuff like mods/accessories, etc...

All the Best and Ryde Safe!
Cheers from Newfoundland!

I have been watching this board for the last 3 years or so and keep wondering about the DPS. In the past it seems there has been much in the way of problems and subsequent computer updates to fix those related problems.
My question is - why not just disable the DPS?

I have two RT machines and neither one has any type of power steering and I wonder why this would be needed in the first place as mine steer fine without any added help. I do see where the stability control system would be a real safety plus and here again I do not have those systems so I rely on seat of the pants control - pretty much like one does on a two wheeler I guess.

Has anyone pulled the fuse and tried running DPS free? If so what was the up/down side etc.

I am glad to hear the dealer was able to get things sorted out correctly for you. Please post the name of that dealer so that others who are in the area sometime know a good place to go for assistance.
