• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Squeaking rear brake

I'll be doing that the next time it happens to me. Only thing that's worked so far and it's a temporary fix is to ride it real fast and break very hard.

brake squeal paste

My old chevy truck use to squeal the front disk brakes. I used the anti squeal paste behind the pads when I installed a new set and solved the problem. I got it from autozone, but I imagine any of them have it. Now I've noticed a lot of the brake pad kits have it included. If my spyder squeals I'll try the same thing.
Someone, an engineer friend, told me it is caused by the pad vibrating the metal back to the caliper metal. The paste lubes the two metal and stops the squeal.

+1, Since my dealer put the 'magic paste' on the back of my Spyder brake pads, there has been NO squeal. I'm calling it magic paste because I can't remember the name of it. I know its not the CRC product as he told me it was something they used for marine lube applications (seadoos, jetskis, etc.) Stands up to constant water exposure.

There are two types of these products, lubricants that can withstand the heat, corrosion, and the exposure to moisture...and rubbery substances that cushion the back of the pad. The marine product you described sounds like a good lubricant type. The rubbery CRC product is CRC Disk Brake Quiet. There are other, similar products, too. Whichever stuff you use needs to be put on the back of the pads (once removed). Don't use the products that you squirt on the rotors. Those products are temporary at best, and reduce your braking power for a while. If you try the WD-40 trick, be exceedingly careful to use the "straw" or remove the pads. Any WD-40 getting into or onto the pad material will cause severe loss of braking power, and may permanently ruin the pads.
