There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. squeak in front wheel

I have a 2010 RS SM5 with 6,800 miles on it. I've noticed a squeak in the left front wheel that starts at about 45 mph. I've checked the brakes and they appear to be fine. Any ideas what I might look at to stop the noise? Thanks, Ray

Little checking..l

First off you can try a good cleaning of the disc and pads. Even hosing the caliper and disc with water or simple green then ryde and apply brakes to dry and remove dust. Normally the squeaks from that is a low stopping or starting squeak/squeel. check that the fender supports are tight and the tire is not rubbing anywhere. Next would be going into the bearings. If you raise the wheel and check for any play side to side or up and down.

Probably not the issue but check the wheel bearings. I only say this based on the age of your machine, not the mileage.

Would you repack the bearings or replace?

I have never had them apart so I don't know if they can be repacked or if they are sealed. Maybe some with more experience can answer this question.

Edit: Just looked at the design on the BRP parts site, it looks like the bearing is a 1 piece sealed design and probably is not serviceable from what I see. Like I said I've never gotten into one so I'm not sure. Before you panic jack it up and see if you have excessive play in the bearing. Spin the wheel and see if you can find what is causing the noise. Take a good look at the brake rotors to see if they show uneven wear or corrosion.

Most likely brake sequel from brake dust build up. Clean the rotors and clippers with brake dust cleaner found at any Automotive store. (spray can) Then take it to a safe place with a little speed (25-35) and bear down on the brakes medium hard. Your squeal will most likely disappear.

Had the same problem at BRP Owners event in Durango. Tech/mechs from BRP directed me to do this and it worked. I do this on occasion when it starts up again.

Took the wheel off then the brake caliper. Sanded the brake pads lightly and sprayed all brake components with brake cleaner. Took the bike for a ride and it made no difference, squeak still there!

Lift front end and spin wheel free hand. Try moving side to side for movement.

Not a good idea to spray with brake clean. They do make ant squeal for brakes (most auto parts stores)

Took everything apart and sprayed stop squeak on the back of the pads, no change. At a speed that the squeak is noticeable, I apply the brakes while maintaining the speed, the squeak doesn't change. Checked the tire while it was jacked up, no play top to bottom or left to right, tire is rock solid.
