• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My damn brakes squeal something FIERCE when maneuvering slowly. It's bad enough having people stare at you anyway because you're riding a spaceship but why the squeal??? Anybody else have this? It's definately not because of anything like rust or not using the brakes because I always get after it. I stopped at a campground and was just coasting to a stop while trying to talk to friends and couldn't even hear what they were saying over the damn thing. :banghead: Thanks

I am brand new to this forum (and the Spyder as well). I have been reading about the brake squeal issues and was just wondering...is it similar to what a lot of Goldwings experience (like mine did) on the front rotors. The cause on our bikes was that the OEM pads were mostly metal, and the squealing occurred at slow speeds just as you came to a stop as well. On the Goldwings, the OEM pads actually resonate in the calipers and make that horrible sound.

The fix was simple, but messy. Some orange gooey stuff called Brake Quiet (CRC Industries). I applied it to the back-side of my pads nearly 10,000 miles ago and they have been quiet ever since (until just recently, but I think it's time to change them out). Not sure if this helps, but it helps the Goldwing crowd. :)

Ok, after multiple observations it's definatly the rear brake causing the sound. Wonder if someone rode the bike with the park brake on? It squeaks when I'm driving slowly and not using the brakes. It's embarrassing as hell when u approach someone to visit and there's a horrid screeching noise

A lot of people have it, especially in reverse. It is an inbred trait of the Spyder. It is irritating and embarrassing.

Have you checked the condition of the rear brake pads? If you have an 08 you may want to change out the pads as they have come up with some better ones since then. When you get a big crowd of Spyders together the squealing can leave you wishing for earplugs!

Mine did it only in reverse. I got the Gen 2 pads installed at no cost and it still does it on occasion.

When it starts to do it, put slight pressure on the brakes and it will go away. The brake pads are turning your rotor into a tuning fork.

My 08 brakes sounded like a garbage truck stopping, Gen3 Brakes fixed it.

I gave up using all the sprays and stuff, Gen 3 was the only way i fixed it permanently.....

Brake squeak

I find it sort of reassuring personally it tells me they are working. My RT basically only does it the first stop of each day. Once that happens it is quiet. I suspect that overnight everything relaxes and assumes a neutral status. Then when I release the electronic parking brake it gets into the "we're going places mode."

products like CRC's and AC Delco's all have a place in the market place. They appear to work well. So why not use them to our advantage?

I do not know how thick they should be but sounds like gen 3's are going on it anyway

Mine only changes the pitch and it ALWAYS does it
