Joe,
Thanks for undertaking such an important project! :2thumbs:![]()
With everyone having access to the file, I don't think the info will stay correct. At some point in the past, someone sorted or filtered the info and scrambled it.
For instance, If I click the drop down arrow for the nearest cities and click sort A-Z, the cities sort, but the corresponding info does not.
I know it is a monumental task to update the sheet, but one person (not me) needs to have access to the file and update as needed and the rest of us need to read only. I'm not sure if this is doable, but I think it is the only way to keep the file accurate.
maybe after we get it updated we can lock it some way or another, i see that someone already resorted it. I made a back up of it last night in case it got messed up again

The problem is that Google drive is using several different types of Spreadsheet formats based on what the requesting machine is using. I don't want to get too technical here, but the layman's terms here is that it gets messed up every time it opens.
The best thing to do is to have it locked, and have a handfull of admins update the spreadsheet when a person wants to add/change/delete their info. List the contact people on a sticky/locked thread and the person who needs their info added/edited/deleted can contact the spreadsheet's admin(s) via PM.
The unmonitored sorting of the spreadsheet and its open access was its demise several times in the past. It never seems to last more than a day or two...sometimes only hours. People should not try to sort it, but without sorting it is nigh on impossible to find a person to help. It would be nice if there was a viable alternative that was less fragile. Anybody want to put together an alternative?
I could cobble up a php/sql database that would be viewable on a smart phone. I have a recipe database like that now so if I'm at the store and need to know the ingredients for something it is easy search and to view. It would come up with the states and you click on a state and it would show cities then you click on a city to see who is in that city. It could be user added but not edited without any password but only the admin could edit or only admin could add and edit an entry.

Since Lamont is the owner/creator of the spreadsheet and the Google drive, you need him to set that up.
