• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Spyders in the Bayou: Weather/Water Update

The news here is constantly changing. (I live just 1 1/2 aways from Riceland). Earlier this week they said it was going to be like 80% chance of thunderstorms for the weekend but just now I watch the news and they said it was going to be 40% (i think) for Saturday now. I'm always trying to figure out the weather here. Even though they say it is going to raining I really don't trust it. I just stay up to date with the weather and go from there. Now I can understand if you are trying to come into La from Tx. Thats iffy, but I think it will eventually be ok in my honest opinion. But then again, I just have to drive west on 90, for about 1 1/2 hour, to Houma and get off the exit and I'm there. I wish it would be better weather for the weekend, but I already told the wife that I am going! Rain or no rain! I some some Gortex from when I was in the Navy that I will take with me. Now not sure if she will want to go but if I have some Gortex to let her wear I'm sure she will go also. I just want to ride a good distance for the first time and meet some fellow spyder owners! And I deffinantly want some crawfish!!! I hope it turns out to be good and hope most of you make it and if not I'm sure everyone will understand!

Don't care what the talking heads are saying. Heading to Shreveport and then south.

Did I tell you the best crawfish is in Louisiana? :2thumbs:

:2thumbs: Yes sir! I had a small boil last weekend at my house. They were pretty good size also.

Not looking good folks! The weather advisory map on Intellicast.com shows almost all of Louisiana north of I-10 is flooded. And it has nowhere to go but south. The parishes north of New Orleans are flooded. That's where I lived for 15 years. The problem in Louisiana is that is so flat that when you get inches and inches of rain dumped on it can't run off fast because there aren't any gullies and canyons to channel it downstream. They're showing 80 to 90% probability of thunderstorms in the Houma/Raceland area through Saturday. If it were me coming in from anywhere West and North I'd be seriously thinking about scratching the trip.

Sailed thru Dallas, sunny and dry. A little humid, but great so far! Shreveport for the night, then in shortly after lunch. Bug splat! Maybe the rain will wash it off! See ya there! Joe

I was just looking at the FB event page S on the Bayou. Sure wish I was going with you all and hope the weather stays good! The Hwy 22 ride is some mighty fine pretty country. I traveled it a few times between home and work. I lived about a 1/2 mile north of Hwy 22 between Ponchatoula and Springfield. My daughter lives in Houma, just south of Raceland.

This is a good place for road updates: https://www.facebook.com/LouisianaStatePolice/

I grew up there so lots of old friends are sharing their posts about road closures.

Be safe out there people.

Here is the most recent update:

**Interstate 10 Traffic Alert** (Update)
**March 16, 2016 at 12:40 a.m., Texas DOTD closed I-10 Eastbound at the Texas/Louisiana line. Motorists will have to exit at Exit Ramp 873 and travel north on Texas Highway 62.
>US 190 cleared for detour
Texas DPS has requested that LSP close I-10 Westbound on the Louisiana side due to flood waters reaching the Interstate in Texas. The Eastbound lanes will remain open at this time.
**Currently our primary re-route will be I-49 North to US 190 West.
Alternate routes include US 165 North to US 190 West, and US 171 North to US 190 West.

Traffic backed up at Cameron Ferry on LA 27?

We're about to leave Houston. Anyone know how much traffic is backed up on LA 27 waiting on the Cameron Ferry? I presume a lot of I-10 traffic has diverted that way. We'd rather go that way than up thru Sheveport, but not if it means waiting for hours in a line of traffic to get on Ferry.

I called SGS Causeway Bait and Tackle earlier today and spoke with a lovely lady who told me they are not having any flooding issues, but traffic can be a bit heavy with all the traffic traveling to the plant.
She said just be careful. They had a bad wreck last night where someone ended up in the river and died and they had the highway closed for a few hours due to the fatality.

I also checked the ferry status just to make sure it was running and it shows open, but I didn't call them to check on delays.
Here's the link for ferry info: http://wwwapps.dotd.la.gov/operations/ferrystatus/fmbs_status.aspx?PID=F_STATUS

If the ferry is backed up, I was thinking of just taking 27 north back up toward Lake Charles where you can then continue east on I-10.

But if we can make the ferry tomorrow, that's my preferred route for the time being.

Squared away checking in!

2034 miles, not a drop of rain. No puddles, no flooding, nothing but humidity! No problems at all! Come on! The party starts now!!😃

Weatherman is the only job that I know that can be wrong one hundred percent of the time and still have a job. We had a fantastic ride down here today and had about five minutes of light rain. Temperature 85.

We left this afternoon instead of tomorrow. Rode up 59 and turned east at Lufkin on 103. Beautiful scenery, hilly, curvy road, speed limit 75. Lots of fun. Crossed the Sabine River and the speed limit dropped to 55. :banghead:

We're staying the night in Many, LA. Have 270 miles till party time!

Might be coming over tomorrow morning. It's only about 1 1/2 hour for me to get there. Saturday the wife will come with me hopefully. See y'all in the morning hopefully.
