• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Ride Team is looking to see what things people would like to see while in Lake George. Here are some things to vote on and if you don't see something you would like to do, please post. We will do what we can to accommodate, time and weather permitting. First word above next to poll should have been (where).

Alot of us have done Whiteface when we attended Spyders in the Adirondacks. I'd like to see a different ride.

If you Map Quest the different rides the thing about White Mountain and Placid is that it seems to be a Good Deal of route 87 to get there??

I haven,t been to Lake George in 30 years so I don,t know how scenic route 87 is but there must be more scenic routes since most people will spend a lot of time on the highway to get to Lake George?:dontknow:

I could go 87 from CT to Lake George but I,m going an extra hour to do the secondary Ma and NY roads.

I'm just throwing this out there as a suggestion, not sure of the logistics so we can just call it a bad idea. One place I really enjoyed riding and visiting ( not saying anyone else would) was the old Woodstock music festival visitors center. Pretty cool and far out place man...

Just a thought :dontknow:, I'm happy just riding and sight seeing.

the place you're talking about is down south of the catskills and not up north around the lake. I think it would be over 175 miles one way! not sure, but I think it's called bethel woods.

correct, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.. Its about 175 miles one way, a short joint on a spyder. In comparison, Lake Placid is only 85 miles.

Just a thought, but you might not be looking for an all day long ride, scape that idea.

And it's pretty darn near in MY back yard...
Ron, I'm definitely a Friday arrival; and it might even be in time for the ride! ;)

Rides are not set yet, but I can tell you that 87 north of Lake George this time of year is about deserted and one of the prettiest interstates in the country. The other one in NY is Route 17 through the catskills. I'm sure we will be on 87 at some point, but not much. 87 is a good way to get around LG.

The reason whiteface is in the poll because it is probably the most scenic view in the adirondacks, however with Sita and americade near, I was not sure how many would still want to go there. There still seems to be interest to go there, maybe some have not caught it on a clear day.I led a group of spyders 2 years ago during americade to the top and also stopped at the Olympic bob sled run and we made the loop in 8.5 hours. Randy has not given us 8.5 hours so we are looking to shorten it. If we get on 87 I can assure you it will be as scenic north of LG as any route you take getting to LG.:thumbup:We maybe going with 2 separate rides on Friday.
