• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Harvey has done it again. He has created a mod for my RT that makes my life better. A couple of years ago, Harvey created a mod for my GS/RS that redirected more ram air to the radiator which improved cooling efficiency. I was impressed with this, but then I didn't pay attention to what Harvey was doing. In Durango I discovered Harvey had created a must-have mod for my RT. In this case it was heat shields for the catalytic converter ($40 pair).

On the way to Durango, I burned my right ankle without even touching the Spyder. The hot air was sufficient. Harvey's heat shields for the catalytic converter proved to be the answer. I only did the one mod. I could have done the radiator block-off mod as well, but I wanted to know if the heat shields would make a significant difference. They did. I may do the radiator block-off mod next year.

The heat shields work best when the ambient temperature is less than 100 degrees and the Spyder is going at 50 mph, or more. With these conditions, there should be little or no discomfort. If you are in stop-and-go, in-town traffic on a very hot day, Harvey cannot save you. The Spyder will generate more heat than can be dissipated. The heat shields may help, but you will experience much discomfort.

This is a great mod. In my opinion, BRP should put something like this on all RT's.

Thanks, Harvey. In the future, I will pay more attention to what you are doing.

Nice write-up specially coming from Walter with many Spyder miles under his belt!
