Good luck on the paint,it will be worth the effort for sure and be sure to post pics of how it turns out.Maybe the procedure as well would be great for all to see.
I rode my bike home and then tore it apart and started painting some of the plastics and adding a the "spyder" to front trunk lid .
That looks :b2b:
You did the paint?
:agree: One of the nicer implementations of an arachnid on the Spyder. Its very sharp looking. :2thumbs:
:agree: Got to be one of the best painted hoods I've seen yet
looks cool without fenders any other pics ....
hey lamonster how long will you be without spyder
i like it with no rear fender, mine will be off shortly:congrats::dontknow::clap:
So what is the recommendation ofr painting the panels your self?
What is the recommended paint of choice?
I had a bit of help from an airbrush artist buddy, but I did most of the paint, clear and of course colorsand/buff to make he as purdy as the factory paint.Im in the paint business,so nothing stays stock for more than a day or two.Getting rid of the front/back fenders saved alot of time leaving just the side pods and the hood......I left some silver to break it up just a bit.
Lic plate is plenty to keep any water from splashing up imo and cleans up the rear alot...
I sanded all the panels back with 600 grit and then applied PPG paint ,then art work and clear.Any good brand,PPG,Dupont,BASF are my favorites because I sell these 3 brands in my stores.
With plastics, the key is to use the factory foundation if possible, beeing careful not to burn through the factory clear and color. If you do burn thru, always best to prime those areas or the solvents in new paint job will penetrate those areas and blemishes with be obvious and ugly.Plastics can be a challenge to paint, but if they are new like the Spyder, its a walk in the park :2thumbs:
