• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyderfest or Bust (FROM THE EAST COAST)

Joe,

I'm a mutt. Born and raised in Chicago, a product of the Arkansas higher education system and lived from Hawaii to DC and a dozen places in between. I can't wait to get in the road with these people!

I too am a "MUTT" born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. moved to Arkansas 44 years ago.

This will be a interesting group of YANKEES, that arrive on SOUTHERN soil. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Kinda wish i was coming from that direction.

My family's roots are firmly in Scottsville, Va... :D

My Great-Grandma Rose would never say the word "Yankee", without giving a warning shot of "Damn" first...
And she did this LONG before it was fashionable!

Uh oh.....

I could be in trouble, I'm originally from Eastport, Maine. It literally doesn't get any further east that that! However I did live in Kentucky for a short while as a child?

Military brat

 What did you do, to deserve That??? :joke:

My dad was chief in the coast guard and we typically moved every three or four years as a kid. Maine, Ohio, Kentucky, then he decided to call it a day after twenty years and retired in Rochester, NY.

I've always wondered how you can end up staying in a State that has no coastline...

Does the Coast Guard have a secret training facility in Kansas? :dontknow:

:D ...Still :joke:!

Once again the mighty Mississippi

Fortunately it was during non war time, and I remember my dads ship monitoring and managing the Mississippi in those non coastal layovers. I remember one time when they were running the Powerboat races, Miss Budweiser and the like, we had front row seats on the bridge on the ship.

Aha! (The light-Bulb just turned on!)
So "Coastline", and "Shoreline" are pretty much interchangeable? :dontknow:
(We used to really enjoy watching those big boats run! But we had to see it on TV!)

I am on the backend of a military career myself. Need to start deciding where to end up. I need to move to a location that has a decent BRP dealership/service department. The one here in Northern VA are criminals!:lecturef_smilie:

Good to know. I come down to the Dulles area for work on a pretty regular basis and try to take the bike as often as I can.

I know exactly what you mean

I'm in the same boat of trying to find a good dealer that I can feel comfortable with. I have 3 dealers all within 1 hour of me. I have been to two so far and the first is where i bought the spyder and I was not happy with the quality of the workmanship and as soon as the sale was over, I was just a number to them. The second dealer was better at customer service but still poor quality of work, I have had to take items back 2-3 times for things that should have been completed on the first trip. I have a 3rd dealer that I plan to go to in the spring for an oil change to see how I like them. Its not easy, and hopefully I can get up to speed asap on the routine items so that I can become a bit more self reliant!

I am starting this thread in the anticipation of my registration to Spyderfest later this evening. This will be my first Spyder rally, and I am really looking forward to the event and meeting new people.

I would like to link up with anyone ryding to Spyderfest from the east coast (I am coming from DC/Northern VA). I know there are many people coming from NY, NJ, PA, VT and other eastern states and thought that we could travel together for a majority of the route. Being a newbie to long distance trips on three wheels, I thought it would be fun/wise to link up on the way to Spyderfest and travel in numbers. I have a few routes in mind, but I am more than willing to follow the preponderance of the experienced Spyderest ryders traveling to ensure we all get there together.

Realizing we have four months to plan, I at least wanted to get the conversation started. As I stated earlier, I am really looking forward to this event.

Also, anyone leaving the prior Saturday or Sunday? Or are most people leaving Monday? I took leave at work through the following Tuesday to give me enough time to get home.

I would be very interested in riding out with someone from Northern Va. I just made my hotel reservations and plan on leaving Warrenton, Va. on the 25th or sooner.

Read through the thread. If plans stay the same between now and then, we will do the trip in three days. Your welcome to join in. I'm going to meet the Northeasten group in Morgantown, WV. That will be stop 1. Arrive in MO sometime Tuesday.

Did you know that we have a member in here that lives in Morgantown? :D
MrFats!
I believe that he's planning on attending SpyderFest also!

Do you know John?
(2011 Blue RT...)

I knew that you had been involved in these conversations; he hasn't yet joined in. :D

nope, haven't met him or seen a blue spyder out and about either. only other spyder I've seen around here is red and the guys name is Barry.

She'll be guarding the office...
I'll be rolling alone, and checking in with her during the day.
I'll have to actually bring along a laptop, and process policy endorsements for her... :banghead:
