• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Thursday night was a great time of fellowship and food at Wildwood Springs Lodge. Just SOME of the parking.

Lining up for the Friday AM ryde to Herman MO. I'd say there were about 40-50 in the ryde.

(Stitched Image) We all assembled at a gas station in Herman to then split into two groups. Some for shopping in the town and some to go to the winery area.

It felt like rain as we gathered for the ryde back to Cuba. Bobbie donned the rain gear. Poor thing was frozen! Decent reason... We left 80-90 degrees in Texas and Friday about this time, it dropped to 45!! And it did rain on the way back........

Here's some of the evidence. Ok, before I razzzzed... I know there are bikes that have been WAY dirtier. I fully admit that I'm a fair weather light weight ryder. I highly admire those that ryde in ALL weather and take off with little packed and do 5,000 miles. THIS was our first trip over 150 miles. We have never ridden in rain. And I found out today that we are not alone! So... newbie Spyder ryders.... you CAN do this! It WAS scary, at first, but with help from guys like Mark Lawson and GoryRyder and others... we did it!

After getting to the hotel (above pic), I had about 1 hour to get Darth cleaned up for Friday Night Lights........

By some fluke, Darth was honored with first place in the lighting contest! Unbelievable. There were SO many great lighting entries. Scotty and Bobbie know that Darth ALMOST didn't make it! Everyone was lining up (driving from one end of the drive in to the other end). I went to put Darth in gear, and NADA! I got a transmission error message. I hollered for Scotty (Nancy's Toys) who was nearby. He did the old- turn it off, remove the key, get it away from the bike, then try it again. Everyone else was gone and here we sat. There was temptation to push Darth to the judging area :). But the 5th try went into gear and we got into line.... at the very end. By the way, for newbies, if you ever get this type message.... do as Scotty suggests but be patient and wait about 5min. I did that at the end of the night and all is well.

Last factoid- the People's Choice winner.... is in the room next to us at the Best Western!! Their bike in in the background in the pic above. We both ended up back at our rooms within 2min of each other, and it drew a crowd! We both were asking each other... "now HOW do we get these great trophies home?!" Thanks Spyderlovers for the honor. I am humbled......

wowwwwwww look very good this year , i'm very sad i'm not there:(:(:(:(:(
next year i will be there

Great show last night and they raised a lot of money for the Back-Pack for kids program. I would have hatted to be a judge for that show as there was some totally awesome Spyders there as well as a ton of Spyders that should have entered the show. It was a tough decision for sure . But the best in show bike won it hands down.I came away with some great lighting ideas for my Spyder and trailer .

Phil....LOL! I think he's right. Have a safe trip back to the Rose City.

Here are just a few shots from today.

A little before 2:00pm, Cowtown had a HIGH concentration of ryders and rydettes.

Everyone gathered at the Wagon Wheel to stage for a ryde through the city of Cuba. It was an AWESOME ryde. The people of Cuba came out, sat on their porches and in any way possible made us all feel so welcome. If the front of this set of bikes is Darth. Right behind is Ben and his bride's ryde. They won Friday Night Lights Best In Show, and tonight AS WELL as Best RT. Now they have TWO big trophies to figure out how to get home!!

In the florescent jacket is Reese Cantrell. Ann, his wife is further back. They are the only other Spyder Owners from Tyler TX that I'm aware of that were at Spyderfest but I'll just say that are great friends. Also in the pic is Phylipe' (sp?).

No more pics from me. But TICKET BAIT will likely have THOUSANDS of gig of pics and hours of narrated video :). As we started through town, the skies opened up. I THINK it shortened the ryde. We all ended up at a community center in town that's Spyderfest has used for events. We were treated to MOHick BBQ with all the trimmings. My guess is there were 400+. Entertainment, more prizes, more fellowship.

We leave in the morning as do many others. My standard 'night before' check list is done and off to sleep. Rick D (Cowtown Owner) said it so well on stage tonight..."I've run out of words... I don't know what to say." SO great to spend time again with Scotty, Reggie, Lamont, SteveMac, Elka John, And our friends Kevorama & Joanie. AND my brother Mark Lawson. New friends Mark (Chaplin), Ben, and their wives. And a BUNCH more that are not coming to my tired brain.

Safe travels to all leaving. If you're reading and didn't make it for health reasons- you were missed, but you did the right thing... DAVE :). God Bless....
