• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SpyderAttitude Cat Bypass - WE NEED ANOTHER VENDOR

About the only way a catalytic converter will damage an engine is if it gets blocked. That happened frequently on the very early model auto cats. I rodded out the cat on my '78 F150. That way it would pass inspection because at the time they only looked at the exhaust system.

I cant ever imagine a different muffler presenting any warranty issue....,However, Changing the exhaust takes all of 15 min to do. If your worried about it being a warranty issue swap it back to stock if you ever have to take it in for warranty work.

Asking the dealer to tamper with an emissions item; is about like asking them to help you rob a bank...
That can get them in BIG-TIME TRUBBLE!
And only a real moron would do it for you!

Thats fantasy Bob not reality how many dealers or even cyclists have you ever heard or personally know to be ticketed or arrested for removing or like I say "replacing" a CAT?

Lets look at this realistically...........how many bikes out there have only headers on? MANY MANY MANY 100,000s whats the first thing most twin air cooled guys do when they buy a bike? Change the exhaust.

Now I have seen and even heard of personally only three in my life that even got ticket for excessive noise let alone CAT removal................

I think some of you have a "The sky is falling mentality." when the feds have time to mess with me for replacing my CAT we all have much bigger problems than uncomfortable heat issue with this machine MUCH BIGGER.......:yikes:

Cat

I guess I don't understand. I don't need to make my :spyder2: go any faster, why mess around and change out or bypass the cat? The :spyder2: is
fast enough to scare hell out of me at times so I am happy with it just the way it is.

I think for most it is not to gain speed but to deal with the heat issues.

And sound and weight. Removing the cat adds to the noise and makes things a bit lighter

omitting the first sentence; I most fully agree with the sentiments expressed. We will all have other MAJOR concerns that will make emission tampering look like very small potatoes indeed!!!! :yikes::yikes::yikes:

There are a lot of "IF's" and "BUT's" on this subject and one may never know what the outcome would be. Heck my dealer installs Power Commander systems on spyders, would you not think that could also affect the warranty? But what would be the case if it's "dealer installed" then what???

cat

THE USA does not have motorcycle emissions requirements for the exception of ...of...you guess it CALIFORNIA!:sour:
my dealer had no problems taking my money to remove the cat and installing my cat -bypass -they told me, because of the known heat issues-they stand behind this mod- no warranty issues.
of all the mcy I have ever owned or even heard of this is the first to have a cat. I think maybe BMW mcy have them because my friend owns one and heard him talking of taking it off one day.:gaah:

My dealer does too. I'd imagine they would warranty any damage but would not be able to warranty any of the aftermarket components themselves.

We all know that most add on components and tuners if done correctly actually help, not hurt.

That is great that your dealer installed yours.

I will absolutely agree with you, that the chances of getting caught are very small... tiny, actually. But the laws are on the books, and the chance is always there...
