• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder Vibration

So I have a 2010 RS and I took the stock grips off the bike and replaced with Kurykan iso-grips. Since I have replaced my grips the vibration in the handlebars is so bad after a while my hand begins to tingle. I have noticed also that around 5500 rpms that I can feel a small vibration in the footpegs. Any body have any kind of ideas in how to help me out. It is getting really close to full time riding and I can only drive it about 30 miles before my hand goes numb.

I'm curious about this because I was going to replace my grips with those...

If the vibration in the pegs are too much to bear, one of the site sponsors sells a belt tightener that will solve that problem.

Kuryakyn grips are larger in O.D. and they may cause some numbness if you have smaller hands.
A good pair of gloves helps too. I notice that the thicker my gloves are the sooner my hands get numb.
Bar weights help eliminated vibration. A cheaper route is to fill the bars with bb's. Some have had issues with the bb's but it may be a quick attempt to see if that will help your hands.

If your throttle hand is going numb, you may need to try a throttle lock like the Throttlemeister. Made all the difference in the world for me. Not gripping the bars too tight also helps. Various other devices help...... Bar snake, grip puppies and a good set of gloves.

I have a 2012 RT and I'm noticing the same thing. Whole bike shudders at 5300-5400 RPM when under load. Don't notice it much in 1st and 2nd gear, moderate in 3rd (especially if going up hill), and pretty heavily in 4th and 5th. I tend to think it got to be the engine vibrating because it's always at the same RPM.

I was going to get the same grips, is it a normal issue, I was hoping to get away from the numb hand not make it worse.

:agree: BRP does sell a set of weighted plugs for the RD/GS models to help reduce vibration...

I believe that a Throttlemeister will fix the bar vibrations and it is a heck of a good 'cruise control'.

I believe from what I have read hear that the foot peg vibes are from the looser tension on the drive belt. I never had this problem on #610 but I did go through rear bearings and output shafts. On #104, my present machine, I have loosened the belt and I get the vibration right at 5500 rpm. I just ordered the belt idler pulley availabe on this site and I am hoping it will work as expected.

Good luck

The first thing I did was to purchase a different pair of gloves that had gel in the palm. This helped a lot but the meg-impact came from adding a belt tensioner. WOW! This has really made me enjoy the ride. I used to get off the bike after an hour or so and it felt like I had something crawling under my skin on my hands and arms for about 10 minutes.

Have you had the engine mounts looked at to see if they are rubbing? 2010 need a small notch filed in the frame to keep the bolt head from rubbing. 2011 was redesigned but it did not fix the problem. The mount was redesigned but now it can settle even futher and comes into contact with another part of the frame. A shim is required to fix this and both repairs should be covered by warranty.

The rubbing cause engine vibrations to pass directly to the frame and it can be felt in the handle bar. From those that have had it done it is supposed to be a dramatic improvement. I am waiting to get mine done the next time I break down.... er go to the shop. lol

The stock grips on my RS were too small for my hands so I added Grip Puppies. But the vibration was still too much for me, so I went with the Throttlemeister cruise control/bar weights. Solved any problems I had, no issues since.

I just wear these when I drive, no numbness yet, but the side effect is just occasionally having an overwhelming feeling to smash something...

handle bar weights

fill your handlebars with lead. i'm told by buck1234, and blueknight911 that this is a big improvement. i personally haven't done it yet. i'm from the h d world, my spyder seems silky smooth to me. walmart sells the pea size lead fishing weights cheap. this sounds like the easiest way to do it inexpensively. just fill er up.

Racing dirt bikes on long races we always fill our bars with a tube of Silicone sealer, sounds like there is more of a problem than normal vibration. Good Luck

Finally found the problem

Well after getting more and more annoyed with the vibration, I kept looking and I noticed that my belt had rubbed through the top belt guard so I took it in to get it looked at and the belt alignment is off and is sitting in the shop hoping to get it fixed this week and back on the road next weekend. Will keep you posted.
