• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder trade-ins go to auction

Once I trade in a bike, any bike, I lose all interest in it since it is no longer mine. I traded in a 2016 Goldwing for my new RT less than a month ago, and the dealer gave me a fair trade in, i.e., almost the full retail value by Kelly Blue Book . Then they detailed it (I never kept it that shiny and clean!) and put it on their showroom floor for thousands more than what they paid me. I wish them good luck with it but could not care less. And if the next owner messes it up, why would that concern me?

I’m wondering why you would worry or be concerned about what they do with it.....you accepted the dollar that they had offered and bought what at, at the time, you wanted. Whether they resold it or made a coat rack out of it doesn’t alter the fact that you got what you wanted. Also, not all dealers do this.....a lot of them re-sell them. There’s a quite good market for used anything. jmho wdik!

I totally agree with you. I have bought many many used bikes , especially cream puffs with low miles. All the used bikes I have bought were guaranteed by the dealer to be in good condition. If there was a problem in the beginning, they would take care of it for me at no charge. I have dealt with the same few dealers all my life so they treat me like family. LOL.
The reason I mentioned the fact about the auction is because the 2016 STS-LTD only had 6,000 miles and it looked brand new. It was well taken care of and would have made a really nice Spyder for someone. I miss the champagne color.canam.trade.jpg

I traveled do Delaware to purchase this from a private seller because of the color and condition. LOL.

Well in reality someone who bought it from the auction house is REALLY happy with it :clap: ..... I doubt it went to the " crusher " and was sold for scrap ..... JMHO .... Mike

I'm sure you're right, Mike. Plastic is just about worthless in the recycle market. Steel is doing good but there probably isn't a hundred pounds of it in a Spyder. The aluminum is probably the most valuable, but even then I'd bet the scrap value of a Spyder probably wouldn't exceed $100. Junk car dealers around here only offered me $200 for a Toyota last year that was good enough to drive to them!

tough to let go of an "old friend" unless your new friend is a Spyder!

A bit off the primary topic, just wanted to share a story.
Approx 2 months ago, a good friend decided to part with his pristeen bmw k100RS. The buyer rode the bike up and down the street, parked it and paid the asking price. Before the buyer could make it back to where he parked the bike, it rolled off the side stand and took a nap on the driveway. My buddy was a bit disappointed, but said "I got my asking price, it's his bike now not mine".

I want to know where these "Auction Houses" are. Buy up a lot of them and open a Used Spyder Dealership.
