There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tank bag...

I don't have the BRP bag but I do have the Nelson Rigg tank bag which is similar. I can tell you for 100% that after 10000 miles, the bag definitely left marks on the tupperware. :( I even brought it to a autobody shop with no luck. They were not able to get the "stains" out of the tupperware.
So I'm interested in hearing from other folks with tank bags to see if they have seen the same thing.

I just got a Nelson Rigg tank bag for my 2010 Rss. The strap is too long and wants to ride up the column and go where it shouldn't. I did a search here and it looks like the 2009 models have handy brackets you can hook the strap under, not so on mine. I haven't found a solution yet that I'm happy with. If anyone had the same issue I'd like to hear your thoughts. It is a very handy bag it holds everything I wanted it to and not having to shut off the bike to grab something from the frunk is a huge plus for me. I'd recommend it even with the strap issues.

Tankbag Leaving Stains

The original tankbag was covered on the bottom with a black faux fur. It stained the tupperware fairly quickly and permanently. Revman990 was one of the early reporters of the problem. About 2009/10, the bottom of the bag was replaced with a rubbery-plastic and, at least in my case, has not stained or scratched the plastic. There was no announcement of the change; I happened to feel the bottom of the bag at a dealer and realized the difference.

Not sure if there are any of the bags with the faux fur still around. I wouldn't buy one without knowing what the bottom was like.

The bags are not waterproof though I have had mine on when it poured and the inside only got damp.

That is interesting as the bottom of the Nelson Rigg bag is the soft rubber as well and that left a permanent stain.:dontknow:
I guess at this point i'm not sure what the best way to go is?

Butch picked up some clear vinyl from Aerostich that is made just for this type of problem. You hardly notice it and your nice paint shows thru and is protected from anything (tank bag or whatever when you don't have the tank bag on). He doesn't remember what the price is, but if I find the link to their catalog I'll post it.

Hi guys...Try appying the clear film that is used on cars for the paint protection against rocks. it is fairly inexpensive and easy to apply. if it gets stained or scratched just removed it and reapply another sheet, or if you ever decide you dont want the bag just removed the film and the paint underneath will be just like you left it. I have some extra film, if interested PM me

I had a Cortech tank bag that I just replaced due to fading. It had a foam pad under it and it left NO marks. Nice bag just faded after 3 years. It as also a little small.

I have a Nelson-Rigg bag and noticed a small nick on the top of my console area from my former bike. That's when I placed a very soft cloth underneath the bag to prevent any more damage. It seemed to work very well.

Now I have a newer bike and I've ordered the console protector in hopes this will not cause any damage to the console or fading. I plan on still using the soft cloth underneath as a precaution.
