I went to the closest dealership (91 miles away :yikes
to look at the spyders in person up close. I learned some stuff. I wanted to sit on one back to back next to an RS. I definitely like the seating position better than the stock RS but I have changed my RS spyder into a more relaxed seating position similar to the ST.
Random thoughts from my vist:
For whatever reason the shift trigger on the handlebars on all the new machines feels really gummy. I would need to ride it to verify but there was no sharp crisp "click" tactile feedback to let you know you were telling the machine to shift. It is weird feeling.
I was surprised how many parts appear to be shared between the new RS & the ST. I didn't know you could get cruise control on the RS models. The few electronic gizzy's that they give you on the ST-limited are pretty profitable. So much so that Can-am feels bad enough to throw in a garmin :roflblack:
I think you're correct on the backrest. The can-am accessory site lists the backrest and sport rack for BOTH the ST and the RS. A little music would be nice at times glad to hear it's functional. I think they changed something in 2013 that makes the previous exhaust not work on the newer models otherwise I think that can-am would list their accessory mufflers for the years prior to 2013 but it specifically says 2013-2014 RS & ST.

I think that your passenger backrest might work I would ask the dealer and if it doesn't they make a new taller backrest that a top case can mount to. As for the stereo at cruising speed say 60 mph it gets hard to hear unless you have it cranked up pretty loud my wife thinks that my STL actually has better speakers than her 2011 RT I would only run the premium unleaded as specified in the owners manual not to sure about the Hindle? someone else might know as there are a lot of Farkle fanatics on SL
I have added an extra wide calsi wind shield that I typically keep at the lowest setting so I can still see over the top of it and it has really cut down on the wind in the face and road noise bugs in the teeth and if it rains
