• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Little checking..!!

check all fuses and relay. Make sure they are well seated. Check all ground connections especially to the frame. That ground jumper under the seat can be a bear so don't loosen it but check it is tight...let us know how it goes...

The battery might just have a bad cell...
...Or something's going on with the electrical system, that is draining it.
It's time to call your dealer.

Ive owned the spyder for 6mo!!! brand new???

Quite possible that it needs a good full overnight charge or the battery could have been bad from the start. Once the battery is fully charged then you will be able to tell if you have other problems. It cost nothing to fully charge it. If these Spyders are constantly started and only run on short trips the batteries never get fully recharged and will eventualy not have enough power to function properly.

relays and ground are good.... going to charge battery and see if that works.

Had this problem with a fairly new battery for my Harley. Bad cell as it turned out. Replaced it and all better.

How much have you ridden it? Short trips or long rides?

If you're just doing short trips (especially at low RPM) over a 6 mo period you could run your battery down. At idle and low RPM you're actually using more juice than your putting back in. I think the break even point is between 3,500 and 4,000 RPM. After 4,000 RPM you are getting a positive flow from the charging system.

Our Service Manager says, since it happens every couple of days, it sounds like a bad battery. Let us know what you find out! ;)

After charging the battery.....

so I charged the battery overnight and the first time i try to start up it went blank and with the panels off i was able to see the clicking/popping noise came from the positive connection on my battery?? It was a spark... so I disconnect then reconnect the battery like I've done in the past and and what do you know starts right up!

But wait....

When it started the bike It seemed as the accelerator was stuck cause it just started revving (It was not stuck??)... I immediately shut down before it reach any high rpm.

let it rest a minute.... started up again .... same thing???

disconnected and then reconnected battery..... and what do you know everything is fine?????

may have been a bad connection to start with, i would keep it on a battery tender for a few days and see if that cures it, if not you probably need a new battery, Glad it appears to be working again.

that may be it... I do short trips and at low rpm

:agree: I'll be buying a new battery for my 2011 RS-S SE5 soon. The charging system on your model only generates 500W @ 6,000 RPM, the lighting systems takes about 1/4 of that. It's a good idea to keep a Battery Tender hooked up to Spyder when not being used. The new Spyder RT's and F3's has a better charging system, but it's a good idea to have a Battery Tender hook up when in storage for a long or a short time. That's IMHO.
