• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder safer than a two-wheel bike? Here is your answer...

That's just unbelievable Chief. Darn good thing you weren't two up. Hope she gets the book thrown at her.
 
You walked away from this!!??? :yikes::yikes: Holy cow! Glad you're ok, and able to see another day on this earth. Spyder can be replaced, you can't. Hope everything works out for you in the end. Like someone else mentioned, go buy a lottery ticket, QUICK!!:thumbup:

I too am most concerned about being hit from behind. Not sure I have enough in the back of my STS to have faired as well as you did on an RT. I am curious as to how you knew the best course of action and if you would have done anything different? May be a silly question but it seems your experience is worth learning from for the rest of us.

Her Tahoe bent the Spyder's frame and trunk completely around, into my back and it pinned me to the windshield and steering hand grips. After the initial shock I was able to pull myself out of the Spyder and walk away. Police and EMTs were stunned I was even able to stand after this. Bottom line is I'm okay. The Spyder design is the reason I am alive to write this. I saw her coming in my side mirror and stood up, wedging my thighs on the hand grips, as I braced for the impact. Sore and bruised, but alive. I'll be getting back on a Spyder once the insurance claim is done and body is healed from this.

Looking at the photo, it's unimaginable you could walk away from that. So very glad you did!
 
Glad you're okay. I suffered the same thing but thankfully the other driver was not going anywhere near the speed of that Tahoe.

Ouch!

Glad to hear you only got some minor damgae to yourself...Looking at the pic I am amazed they did not have to use the jaws of life to get you out and like was said elsewhere if you were on 2 wheels she would of knocked you into the next county.
 
Holy cow! From that photo I cannot believe that you walked away. So much to be thankful for. My jaw literally dropped when I clicked on the picture .

Not silly at all. I left myself enough room to pull to the side, which I always do. Honestly, my Navy training took over. When we do shock testing/training, we are taught to "brace for shock" by grabbing something and leaning in to it. When I looked in the side mirror and noticed her coming, my reaction was to stand up, brace the top of my thighs on the handgrips and lean forward with my body on the center console. The impact drove me forward into the Ford Flex in front of me. When I hit the Ford (which I don't remember BTW), the trunk folded up and the back seat cushion hit my back and wrapped me like a cocoon. By standing and bracing, I stayed in the bike for the most part instead of being launched. It also limited the whiplash effect because I was leaning forward and the length of my torso took the shot. I have some nasty bruising on my thighs from the handlebars, my back from the trunk, and on my stomach from the top of the windshield (the windshield was under my ribs). I would love to say my move was due to some mad skill, but it happened so fast I think it was just instinct.

I will say that checking mirrors constantly saved me. I saw her coming and reacted. If I had been siting looking forward and unaware, I would be in far worse shape.

Adrenaline. I was able to slide my body out with a bit of work. Getting my left leg out was tough, especially with my pelvis being jacked up.
 
Thanks for all the kind words guys. I'm doing ok. Body hurts a lot (thank God for hydrocodone) but everything is fixable. Love this community. You guys are the best.
