• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SPYDER RTS/ES5 TIRE PRESSURE

Gee Marker!! 25psi in the front tires!! You will be buying front tires sooner than you think. Maybe your young tech gets commision for selling tires? I'll bet that your steering is very light, responsive and fun no doubt. But, how much rubber have you got on the ground? Just the middle of your tire. That setup would be great for a conventional (round) motorcycle tire but not for a flat footed Spyder tire I'm sure. I'm not trying to be a smart a.. here sir, just trying to save you money and maybe your life. Did you try fixing your body roll with shock adjustments. It worked perfect for me and I brought my tire pressure back down to BRP specs. Recommended by my 40 something tech whose been working on these babies from day one and motorbikes in his fathers shop since he's 12 years old. I believe him! :dontknow:

I have found that for the RT, higher tire pressures tend to make it "nervous" at freeway speeds in the wind, on certain road surfaces, or on rough roads. I tried running 20 psi, as I do on Nancy's RS, but the RT handles better at 17-18 up front, IMO.

I am a VERY aggressive ryder and have a passanger on about 40% of the time.
I have been running 25lbs in the front for close to 10,000 miles now and it was the best thing I could have done to improve handleing FOR ME. I have installed the 2011 front shocks and run them on setting 4.
If you look at the tire rating and pressure listed on the tire you will see that the tire is designed for over 25 lbs so no issue there. As far as wear I see very little wear after 15,000 miles. I changed the rear tire out before 10,000 as I was running the recommended 28 psi and now have reduced that to 25 psi.
We rode in 40 mph crosswinds in the rain for more than 12 hours going to Cuba, and there was no issue there, even though I was blown about a bit.
The higher tire pressures will prevent the sidewalls from rolling as much, thereby providing improved handleing to a degree, but should be set to individuals needs and ryding style.
I believe that it is possible that some of the bent rims that spyder ryders are reporting is due the lower tire pressures and ryding through unavoidable severe bumps or potholes, that would have a tendancy of causing that type of damage.

Air pressure, need to check it

Having owned the RT for only 3 weeks I have been really concerned about the handling on the highway. I keep telling myself that I'll get used to it after a few hundred miles, well after 600 miles and reading about the tire pressures I went to the garage and checked the front tires. Both had 21.5 psi, checked with a digital gage. I dropped the pressure to 18 and rode the same highway that I ride everyday. It is a much better ride with much less darting and pitching on the 4 lane. the bike feels totally different. Two much pressure will for sure hurt your ride confidence. 3 psi makes all the difference in the world.
 
I just increased my fronts to 20 psi last night and precive what I believe to be a real improvement in handling.:yes:
 
I'm sticking with the girl that came to the dance with me... The one that BRP sent in the toolkit! :2thumbs:

The BRP tool kit now does not have the digital air gauge in them..just the tools and a small crappy rag.. :roflblack:

I found that at 28 pounds in the rear it would wear down the middle faster..I backed off the pressure a bit and getting more even wear on the rear..
