• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am new to the RT, what in everyone's opinion is the best after market back rest for an RT with a comfort seat?

Backrest

I have a utopia backrest and the seat to my 2013 rts. Crashed bike and kept seat. Its for sale of anybody wants it. Gonna get 2014 rts.

The Utopia is a very nice addition. The material is very close to original, hard to tell the difference. Very easy to install, once you get over the fact you have to cut your seat. I think it looks much better then the Big Bike Parts one. It is a quality product.

Utopia

The Utopia Backrest is a great product from a great company. I installed one on my 2012 RT-S back in June and have rode 8000 miles with no complaints. I just bought one for my dad yesterday for Christmas. I am sure that he will like it. I rode from Virginia to Sturgis, South Dakota in August for bike week (4500 miles for total trip) and I rode 450 to 600 miles a day in comfort with this backrest. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. Call them and talk to Linda, she will take good care of you. ;)

Teddy gives his vote for the Utopia as well. Saves my back & him from get'n squished

Has anyone ever had any problems after they cut their seat to install a backrest? I can cut holes in pretty much any body panel without blinking, but when it comes to cutting a hole in the seat material I get a little nervous. Worried about it tearing as time goes on. Is this a real concern?

Sent from the corner of walk and don't walk....

No problems so far. They give you a stick on "disk" thing to strengthen the area around the slit you cut and keep the slit from running.

Like so many others here, I love my Utopia. I also was concerned about the seat tearing, especially with the quick out option I purchased. The regular backrest has an adhesive backed reinforcement but the quick out version does not. I applied a piece of "Tear-Aid" tape to the seat before I made the cut as insurance.
