Spyder RT front tire size change

Does anyone know what size tire for the front you can use in place of the 165/65/r14? I am looking for a good tire for wet, dry and sandy roads with a H rating? To get them without buying the stock tires which one came apart inside with less then 5K on it. I can't find any in the stock size but don't want to have to mod my fenders either? :f_spider: RJ

I JUST FOUND THIS TIRE SIZE ???

I didn't even know they made this size 185/55-14.......I don't know what the circumference or width is but I am going to find out.....Nice looking tread pattern and " V " speed Rating........Mike.........It's a Yokohama S.Drive $ 77.86 @ onlinetires.com--------Just put in the tire size and it will go direct to this tire + 4 others.........More info the circumference = 945 revs per mile vs. OEM @ 926......and the width will fit under the fender.....The big difference is the footprint of this tire is HUGH 6.7 INCHES and only a hair wider than the 185/60-14.....The OEM tire only has a 5 inch footprint. :2excited:

Different sized front tires

Do you folks with the bigger footprint tires notice any significant handling differences from the OEMs? With a stiffer set of tires, I'd imagine something would show up. Then again, what do I know?
Thanks

Tuck, I haven't made the purchase yet on the Yokohama's ( 185/55-14), but the tire specs lead me to believe that that is the largest footprint of any tire that will fit under the OEM fender...Footprint equals increased lateral traction ( for front tires) and more-so on the BRAKING ability. The people who race bicycles ala TOUR DE FRANCE can very very easily lock up their wheels because they have almost NO RUBBER CONTACT on the road.....Granted a larger tire footprint can more easily lead to HYDRO-PLANING but this can be mostly controled by the operator by just slowing down.......at any rate I'm going for the bigger footprint....Mike...

Thanks, let me know how they work out, please.23
I wrote a note yesterday about my Kumho rear
It does great with no hydro planing, but it has done some dances on an aggressive start on wet surfaces
Did a big time one on Wed on an on ramp to I75.
That was the 4th time, others on county and private roads. The originals never did that - two tires in 28000 miles

I am not a throttle jockey so it was a surprise. I was wondering about hydro planing due to the wider, stiffer tire with less weight on it.

Thats a concern as I am about to install a new Kumho on the rear and have never had traction problems with the oem rear....

Anyone else have a similar experience losing rear traction, either with the Kumho or other car tires on the rear ?

Is the Toyo likely to be much better?

Run flats on a 2012 RS Spyder

The Altimax tires look fantastic I wonder if they would fit my 2012 Spyder RS with a good fit and not rub the fenders, but has anyone found and put on run flats for the front and rear tires? Any recommendations close to stock sizes?
