• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi guys
am new to site, and live in Australia, allthough have been reading posts here for a long time, am a current spyder rider (2008 rs phantom sm5)
Am contemplating purchasing a new 2011 RSS in magnesium grey, would like to get some some feedback on the SE5 models as have had nothing to do with them in the past, all feedback would be welcome

cheers johno

WELCOME to SPYDERLAND

I bet you would like the new model, Themn you can sell your 08 to a buddy, and have someone other to ride with.:2thumbs:

You will not miss the manual tranny at all. The SE5 shifts as smooth as silk (when you find the sweet spot on the tach--for me about 4500). Just leave the throttle open and punch the button when the rpm's are right. I also like to downshift between 4000 and 3000 rpms. Smoother downshifts--not the clunk, clunk, you get if you let it go down to the 1500 rpm shift point.

When I need a manual fix--I ride the Vulcan.

:welcome:

When I was looking for a Spyder the only yellow one the dealer had was an SE5. At first I didn't think I would want anything to do with it, but now I wouldn't trade it for anything. Clutching is over rated at this point. If you get the SE5 I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I'm lovin my SE5. I considered buying the manual for some time, but at the last decided on the SE5, it was a good choice. :2thumbs:

Se5 Ruined any chance of me going back to conventional motorcycling...
I am concentrated on fun and not clutching or watching traffic light to get it in gear in anticipation of green light.

Only thing you can not do is give it extra gas while rolling but spyder gets enough attention already.

thanks guys for the welcome to the site, and also the feed back i,m seeking, all info is warmly taken in,

also just a quick note on the name of the town where i live, its an aboriginal name meaning meeting place of birds by the river
