• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder road wondering.........

I just purchased a 2014 Can Am Spyder RS. Do all Spyder's wonder when you are a county road ? On a good flat state route or the interstate it seems to track correctly. But, when I get on a county road with a little crown to it, the Spyder never stops searching for where it wants to ride on the road. It is nerve racking and sometimes even a little scary. Do I have a problem or is that just the way it is ?

Road crowns do seem to put some handling issues out there. It is very important to not "over control" the :spyder2:. A light touch, rather than an aggressive one, usually leads to better control.

Experience of 500 miles or so also usually solves most handling issues you may encounter.

Not mentioning, alignment issues, tire pressure, adding a sway bar, etc. Will save those subjects for others.

A road with a high crown will make the Bike want to track to the right...
...and you're constantly fighting that tendancy, with some "steering to the left"...
That could be it...

Or...
You could have a bit of an alignment issue... :yikes:

Hard to say..!!

depending on how long your been ryding the roadster you may be over compensating or gripping to tight. Then there is the crown, small or large. We have anRS 2012 and ryde back hilly twisty roads many crowned and do have some we have to fight with but mostly not. Give it some time and if it continues see about the BajaRon swaybar and hiem joints and a laser alignment...

What Bob D said.

But my Spyder never wonders where it is. It always knows!:joke:

Questions?

Is this your first Spyder?

If so..... Please Go here and use this as your Spyder Bible... http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...ts-quot-for-new-Spyder-owners&highlight=Donts

2. Do you have the Fox Racing Shocks and anti Sway Bar on your RS?

I had a 2012 RSS that came with the Fox kit standard, and that thing was like Ryding on rails! So I put the kit on my 2013 ST-S and made it Steer lots better! And it was only a 200.00 add on. Or the Baja Ron Anti sway bar. Not sure how much it is. He is a sponsor tho so just look on the home page to find him.

3. ROLO Laser align it. Can't hurt and might help a lot!

other then that Relax your grip and enjoy the ryde!

You have received many comments - all good. My 2 cents: As most have said and this is very important - relax. Allow the Spyder to wonder, within reason of course. It will find it's own way with a little help from you.

Spyders are much more affected by road imperfections than 2 wheelers. When you're on 2 lane back country roads there are many dips and rises and other imperfections in the road surface that will make even the well adjusted :spyder2: want to wander. A soft touch on the handle bars and more experience will make this experience less nerve-racking. That being said, there will be times when you'll need to help the :ani29: with a bit of steering input.

I had the same problem with my 2012 RS SE5. As soon as I tighten the front shocks to the max setting, it solved the problem but I dont know if 2014 shocks are adjustable. I almost did not buy the spyder because it wondered so bad.
