Good evening to all. I spent some time this weekend working on risers for my handlebars. Before I go any further,I did not try to reinvent the riser, more just staying with what I feel would be better for me. I have a certain way I do things and I appreciate all our sponsor vendors products. With that being said... My first long ride left a lasting impression on me; I still am sore between my shoulder blades. I thought I would go with the 4" risers as that seems to be a popular choice and also I am long from the waist up,I can use the room.
The photos I took are sort of like a travelog showing the progression of the making of the risers.
I wanted more clamping area/force so I made the risers out of 2"x2" 6061.
I am usually conservative with my designs and since there is plenty of room to work with I went big. I usually road test my work before I get to the cosmetic aspects. I noticed alot of you have peripheral equipment like GPS,Sirius etc. Leaving the bulk of the stock on the risers gives me an opportunity to see what can be done with mounting the "Extras" in a reasonable manner, without having to resort to U bolts and the like. Nothing wrong with U bolts, but I have a blank piece of paper and am looking to fill it in. I won't drag this out, when I have more progress, there will be more pictures. Also, I have a machine shop and know how to use it, I am not trying to sell a product here, just wanting to share my approach with all my fellow spyder riders....Thanks. PS- I linked the pics to my web site which is still under construction. Kinda like moving in, but have not unpacked the boxes yet. If the pictures are too hard to find or whatever, please let me know. Now I am finished!
