• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

spyder recall

Anyone seen the full version of it?
I read through the five page report to the NHTSA (link on one of these threads), but the attachment with the serial numbers wasn't there. So far, I'm not sure that the actual recall has been issued yet, or posted on the NHTSA Web site. I didn't find it there earlier today. Might have just missed it.

So why ain't BRP ballin up and sending out a memo to all owners?:cus:
Be patient! They haven't even finalized the fix yet, still programming and testing. You don't want the cure to be worse than the disease, do you?

Here're the PDFs describing the deal:

I particularly like the "out of lane excursion" part. :D

.

I think I experienced this. I was on the highway doing around 70 and noticed the bike drifting to the right. I just thought it was the wind. When I tried to steer the bike back to the left, it wouldn't let me without me really forcing it. I almost had an "out of lane excursion". Good thing for 4 lanes and no traffic.

Note to self ... always make sure break down lane is available to the right.:sour:

I had this happen and posted a comment on here way back. It was the DPS and they replaced the DPS sensor. I have noticed since though some effort in correcting a drift here and there or coming off an off ramp and adjusting straight. Facinating. :chat:

I have had no problem what-so-ever with my steering!
Is this something that crops up all of a sudden?
Does everybody need to get the fix?

Mike

Not sure if any dealers have posted on this yet....so I will.

I read the information from the links on this thread after getting a call from another member on the site. After reading the information I called the Service Dept. @ BRP.

At this point, there is no Campaign or actual Bulletin from BRP on this. The only information that I can say actually 'leaked' is the legal communications between BRP and the NHTSA.

So what I think (personal opinion) is that we're seeing the VERY EARLY stages of what will become a recall/update for all units involved. There are currently some DPS calibration changes available, but none that are relative to the information we're all reading at this point.

Be patient, and I'm sure we'll have ALL of the information soon!:2thumbs:

Nothing was 'leaked' - all the information is available from the NHTSA website -some of us just happen to keep an eye on their site due to filing reports there.

You are correct that this is very early - BRP has to inform all owners about the recall - so we will all receive notices in the mail. I would guess within 30-60 days.

Problem with recall items is that you just never know. Might never have the problem, might have it tomorrow. Just enough have had it to make it on the list

Not pointing fingers forsure...just want to make sure it's clear to everyone that most dealers won't know about this yet....and if I wasn't a part of this forum  ...I wouldn't either!

I know of one dealer that just got the note today. Still no real fix yet.

Yup - we seem to know more than most dealers-- or at least know things SOONER than they do.:agree:

Recall

Dealer just pulled up my VIN # and no recall listed. I've got a 2009 model.

The NHTSA site lists the report by BRP to the NHTSA, so indeed it was not leaked. They also list a letter sent to BRP requesting additional information, and reminding them of certain requirements. There is no copy of a notice to dealers or owners listed as yet, which means that this step still remains, since copies of said same must be filed within five days with the NHTSA. I agree with Krupps Power that dealers are unlikely to know of this yet, a fix has not yet been finalized, owners will be officially notified, and we need to be patient until then. I'd remind you all that none of our Spyders have changed just because this report was filed. If you have experienced no problems, keep on riding.
