• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Rear Shock Replacement

Dark Side

New member
Hey All:
I'm Leland and it's been a long time sense I have been here. Work, retirement and moving.
To get to the point.
I have a 2011 Spyder RT touring. I am looking to change the rear shock to an Elka. I know the change isn't complicated.
What I don't know is how to get at the rear shock. I have searched Youtube and several other place and can not find a thing about how to get to the rear shock. Found the front but not the back.
Is there anyone out there among the spyder riders that can direct me to any information about this? Could use the help and info.
Thanks for your time, have an OUTSTANDING day.

Leland

Welcome back!
Have you contacted Elka? They might just have a set of instructions to cover this... :dontknow:
Good Luck!

Agree...

:agree: bottom bolt is not a problem but the upper one may require removing some tupperwear...shop manual would be the other option quick and cheap online. Check the parts breakdown but not clear on the upper mount...:dontknow:

Easy, but long

Remove both side panels, rear deck, bags and trunk as a unit. A few wire connections, it comes away. Upper shock bolt is easy then!

Lamont or Finless haven't done videos about this yet? :dontknow:

I have not replaced the rear shock yet but I can't believe you have to remove the entire rear area to replace it.
Seems to me it would be easier to remove the rear tire and this would give you access to the top shock bolt.
