• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Spyder Problems

Not "perfect: . . . . . .

. . . . . but neither am I.

I have put more miles on my Spyder faster than any other vehicle I have owned. It has also given me more SPM ( Smiles per Mile ) than anything else I have ever rode.

I have had a couple of little issues, but when little things happen and they are your only problem, we all tend to gripe about them.

Spyders are not for everyone, but for the rest of us, they are a slice of road heaven.

Give one a try and see how it "fits".

8,900 miles and I love my Spyder. Right now is at the dealer in Tampa due to steering issues (it got stiff on turns last Sat, then locked up for a second ot two on Wednesday, scared the $#!^ out of me). I hope the dealer resolves this problem soon. He may need to replace the GPS and/or the DPS.

He told me yesterday that he's done 5 software recalls before mine, but that mine is acting totally different from the others after the upgrade. Still love the bike, only wished that BRP was a little faster responding to problems.

It will take a lot more to give up my Spyder. Go buy one and enjoy all the thrills and attention...

I stopped by a dealer in St.Augustine Fl to look at a Spyder and I want to take a test ride. I am interested maybe in getting one but the more I read here the less interested I am becoming. Fuel smell, fires, transmission jamming, fender falling off. How much of a problem are these things?

You have valid points...I have been to other boards with other bikes and there you hear about all their problems.

The Spyder has its share of glitches not unlike any other motorcycle or car. The vast majority of owners are happy with their Spyders and they're not on this forum...they just ride and enjoy.

Those of us who are here use this forum to better educate each other and share experiences riding and putting on new and neat modifications for safety, performance, etc...

If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy a Spyder without hesitation...I love my bike and I love how much fun it is to ride and how visible it is.

If you buy one, you'll love it. As I do with all my vehicles, I get extended warranties for peace of mind...I got the BEST warranty, although after 60 days of ownership. I advise getting the 5 year BEST warranty so you won't have a concern for 5 years...this also includes roadside pick-up should there be a problem. Get the warranty when you get your bike for it is much cheaper...

Some of the problems on the bikes you read about might even be self-inflicted...sometimes we go too far and change many things without really knowing what effect it will have...many here are smart and try new things...the results are usually great, but sometimes things may not work great, may loosen up, etc...I wouldn't worry about this too much and if you follow your maintenance schedule, as is the case with any vehicle, you should be fine...

Get a Spyder...you'll love it!

I just want to add that the vast majority of the owners on this forum are happy with their Spyders also. Off the top of my head, I would say that, at most, 20 forum members have expressed regrets for getting their Spyder or have sold the Spyder because they didn't like it. 20 out of 2,000 or so. Thats 1% :( 99% :ohyea:

Thanks I am feeling better about the Spyder. I ride a Valkyrie trike now. Honda is a great product and will be hard to trade in.
Big fan of the Valkyrie as I'm VRCC# 0001:doorag:

I've owned mostly Honda's and I've put more miles in a shorter amount of time on my Spyder than I have on any of my Honda's. I've done two cross country trips already and the season is not over. Like any product it's the luck of the draw but so far I would say the Spyder should hold up just fine for you.

I've had a couple of problems which honestly I expected but that has not had a effect on my love for the machine. I would recommend finding out about the service dept. of the dealer. They'll all sell you one. Talk to some owners in your area and ask about their experiences. I have found that diagnosis of problems is effy which can lead to excess time in the shop. A good service dept. is worth it's weight in gold.

Every time I check this list it seems like there's another problem with these Spyders. These things are like a 1975 GMC pickup. All of these problems shouldn't be happing. A Spyder rep needs to step in and explain some of this stuff.

A little over 3,000 miles in three months. No problems. Idid the stering recall with 3000 mile service. Had/still have a Honda ST1100. 55,000 miles. Love both.

"Try it, you will like it" I think I heard that someplace, a long time ago.

My biggest problem is is worrying about things that are happening to other owners and when they will happen to me. 6,000 miles, multi state trips, and no problems except a burned out brake light. I do not deny that there seem to be many issues with this first year model, but so far, I have been very lucky.
