• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Problems

I stopped by a dealer in St.Augustine Fl to look at a Spyder and I want to take a test ride. I am interested maybe in getting one but the more I read here the less interested I am becoming. Fuel smell, fires, transmission jamming, fender falling off. How much of a problem are these things?

Problems are VERY minor number of Spyders. BRP covers these from bumper to bumper under warranty.

98% of us have had little or no problems at all.

You know you want one!

I cannot speak for the majority . . . Nor can I speak from extensive experience with the Spyder.

I have a 2009 SE5. I have added the power outlet, the HeliBar riser and power insert, the UltraTouring windsheild and the mirror extenders. I will add a GPS (Zumo 660) if I can ever get it in hand (it is on it's way by FedEx).

I have had mine for 3 months. Only have about 1,800 miles on it because of the #@!$!& New England weather we have had since I got mine.

I have had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS of any sort -- WHATSOEVER.

I love my Spyder. I love riding it -- it's ryder positioning and handling (with my riser in place) -- and just having the chance to ryde again. I last had a bike from 1975-85.

I have a great dealer (Chuck)/servicer (Joe) at DaSilva Motorsports in Moultonboro NH -- that has provided original sale, upgrades and services with a smile and with fair and honest pricing.

But . . . The weather!

Oh Yeah----- BTW----- 11,000 miles and only had the steering problem - which has been addressed and fixed.

Many out here are up in the 20,000 - 40,000 range and one crazy fellow has 52,000+ on his Spyder.

Over all VERY reliable.

Your biggest problem should be choosing what color!

People tend to report negative things because they are upset and don't feel a need to constantly post positive things because they are just getting expected results.

I've had no problems with mine. I got it one year ago this Sunday. :2thumbs:

Buy it! :ohyea:

Thanks I am feeling better about the Spyder. I ride a Valkyrie trike now. Honda is a great product and will be hard to trade in.

:agree: and welcome. I had a Kawasaki Concours prior to my Spyder and it was a great bike, as reliable as a stone axe. I haven't regretted transitioning to the Spyder at all. The thing is a blast in every respect! Now have 11,000+ kilometres and no issues.

Cheers,

Bruce

What do you own now car, motorcycle, whatever. Go to the forums for thier products and read all the good stuff they have to say!! You will most likely see a lot of negitive stuff to.
Love my SPYDER sure a couple small bumps in the road as in any fairly new product but overall its the most fun i have ever had on wheels and don't regret for a minute my :spyder2:.

+1 The negative stuff on any product gets more attention than the positives. Because the negatives also seem to get more of the tech discussion, it may seem like it's a huge issue. The problems are really few and far between and the important problems are being taken care of.

My Spyder is parked next to my Valkyrie IS MotorTrike. With the Packet Rack, two trunks and a trunk rack, the trike hauls a lot of stuff. It's big, heavy and reliable.

For shear fun, excitement and "rider involvement", I'll take the Spyder every time.

Come find out what we're talking about. :yikes:

Tripod :joke:

I have had one problem that took a total of 2 months (not all at the same time) to fix but I think the spyder is the best thing since sliced bread and I would go threw the drop off and pick up at the shop and the waiting for parts all over again. :spyder:got to love it........

5500 miles and the 1 problem I had was self inflicted, but my dealer helped me out with it. And it would not have been a problem if I had paid more attention to my mod.
