• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Number 1

It's been said, and he says so himself, that Jay Leno bought the first Spyder. It is more accurate to say he bought the first Spyder sold, not the first Spyder off the production line. Here is the first production Spyder in the Armand Museum at Valcourt. Note the VIN ends in 001.

I seem to recall SledMaster telling us about how they ended up with two "Number 1" Spyders:
One for the Museum, and one for Jay Leno... :dontknow:

(and He has Number 6...)

Well I am going to Throw another Monkee wrench into the pile here. While in Valcourt, my ryding group was honored to have Denys Lapointe BRPs Executive VP of Design and Innovation lead us on a personally guided tour of HIS design center! Guess what this man was the driving force behind the Spyder and you may be interested that there are 3 Spyder 001 in existence. The one in the museum belongs to Jose Boisjoli the CEO of BRP, and Jay Leno has one, and the man who thunk it all up has one too! Go figure. Jays is the only one in yellow, the other two are the silver color. I can tell you that Denys is one of the nicest people that I have ever met and his design team is awesome!IMG_0195.jpgIMG_0196.jpgIMG_0194.jpgI can't wait to try the Unicycle. The trophys to the left are the trophys for the Canadian GP for Formula 1. They came to Denys and said we want you to design our trophies because your group wins so many design awards!

Does anyone know for sure if Jay Leno purchased the Spyder or if it was given to him as a promotional gimmick? I am thinking it is the latter. :dontknow::dontknow:

If he paid for it with his own cash: :thumbup:
If he got them to give him the bike: :bowdown::firstplace::2thumbs:

But it's all good: no matter how it went down! :D

But it does to me...:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Did they "buy" his endorsement, or was it for real? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
In either case, they had a video of him welcoming everyone to the Homecoming, saying he wished he could have been there, and bragging about great the Spyder is. It was shown at the Saturday night dinner in Drummondville.

It's a little deceptive, IMO, to have multiple #1s, but it sure looks like they did. The plaque at the museum does say, "...part of the first production lot." It doesn't say it was the first one manufactured, so who knows which one of the three really was the first one built. Maybe they were essentially hand built all at the same time, and so none is truly the 'first one.' I guess all three mentioned above are the 'first ones'.

Since BRP probably never expected to have all three licensed there was no legal issue by having duplicate VINs. Maybe none of the three are registered.

Similar to Premier Editions on the 08's. There were supposed to be about 1500--they ended up with 2500 or so. :roflblack::roflblack: I guess its only a number. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
