There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Spyder Magneto

I run heated jacket- 77W, heated gloves- 27W, GPS- 10W?,
in addition to the Spyders normal load ont he system from the computers, ignition etc. My voltmeter tells me I have full charging output at any road speed. It does drop at idles- reads 12.7-13.1, but as soon as I get rolling I see 13.6 to 14.1 at all rpms- 2500-7000.

That is some good information! I was wondering about the my Spyder's charging systems with my GPS and heated grips (Hot Hands). I think I'm in the clear.

Thanks for posting.
Cheers.

Spec for charging is 15-20 amps (out of a capacity of 40) at 4000 rpm. In short, the system puts out about half its rated output halfway to redline. Spec for voltage is 13.0-14.8 volts at 4K. The voltage is really just a check of how well the regulator is working. Too low won't charge the battery, and too much may fry things.

second battery ?

Didn't several members that have added additional electrical items add a second battery?/Ken

Inquiring Minds Want to Know

Has anyone looked into putting the higher output magneto from the new RT model into one of our older RS's :dontknow: That would be of great interest to me. In the winter I have two sets of electric gear to keep warm. :yikes:
We all know the Spyder doesn't like a low battery. :( Weird things happen when the juice is low. nojoke

yes:D

Where would you connect the wires from the volt gauge to get the reading, I was thinking of putting one on my SE5.

In my case I already ran wiring up the the back of the instrument cluster from the battery to install a PC-8 auxiliary fuse panel, so I just wired the voltmeter to the panel ground and fused the + side.
