• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Insurance

:shemademe_smilie:I'm new to the Spyder Web. My RT-S will arrive in a couple weeks, so I'm in the process of purchasing insurance. I spoke with Geico and Progressive to find options, but neither has the RT on their records. They do have the Spyder Roadster.

Has anyone had a problem with purchasing insurance for the RT?

Hubby isn't here at the moment, but I'm thinking he's been using Safeco for years on all his bikes, and they have coverage for the 2010 RT-S

Looking at our join dates, looks like we all got bit by the Spyder in March 2010 :)

I have State Farm for my home and two cars. I went to them to get a quote. Initially the quote was around $900.00 per year. The agent though in looking through my plan (house and cars) was able to use a method I think he called "stacking" and it reduced my RT-S down to $600.00 per year.

Progressive does have it, but they don't seem to differentiate by model. If you give them the VIN#, they will come up with the correct rate. Too bad, since it costs more than our GS/RS.

RT-S insurance

I have been with State Farm for years. They got the cars, the house, and both bikes. My agent asked for the VIN # and they new exactly what it was. The cost is about $40 higher than the RS was--right up there with the wifes new car.

Thanks all!!!!

I'll continue shopping around for the best rate I can find.

I am not an insurance agent, But the only time people think of insurance is when they are shopping for it or when
they have a claim, and hope they are adequately covered. If you have STUFF to loose if your in an accident
that is your fault. then make sure you have proper coverage.

If you carry the minimum limits ,and expect to die in the accident, and have nothing else for your family o
r beneficiaries to loose, then by all means get the cheapest coverage you can find.

I am covered by AAA in So Cal and with discounts for being a good driver and having my home insurance with them got coverage with 250K/500K/100K with 100 comprehensive/1000 collision deductible for $660 a yr.
I replaced a corvette ZO6 with the RTS and my insurance dropped $1200 a year:clap:

anyhow, good luck, I cant believe that where you live there are as many lawyers as in los angeles.

Oh and one more thing if you have medical insurance through work, then ask not to carry it on your insurance policy, cuz you will never use it , and they know that.

Of course this is just my opinion and I recommend you seek legal counsel as i am not representing or giving you advice as to what you should do:shemademe_smilie:

I am with American Family Insurance, I have my home and daughters car with them. I carry high liability limits and a million dollar liability umbrella over all, UM, UIM, Guest rider liabilty, PIP(Oregon mandatory medical-all auto accidents must go thru this), and 500 deduct for comp and coll. I pay 34 dollars a month. Demos- 53, Non-smoker, no tickets.

Just be sure to check around and have the same coverage/limits quoted.

Good luck on the hunt!

Geico just went by the VIN # and quoted $539 with $500 deductable. I just insured mine yesterday. RT A/C not RTS.

I went to USAA but they passed me off to Progressive as their partner for recreational vehicles. $800 a year WITHOUT uninsured/underinsured! Almost $1300 with. The next day, I hooked up with the Foremost agent in the area and got the full coverage with better limits for less than 1/2 of Progressive. Canceled the Progressive the next day.

My husband has been insuring with them for years
and they gave us a great rate for the 2010 RT-S

I have had Rider Insurance for years, here in NJ. The rate is $384.00 per year for full coverage, which is no different than any other Motorcycle (Two or Three Wheels), they go by CC's and how you want it covered (like Theft, Fire, etc) plus $5,000.00 worth of accessories. The Trailer falls under your auto insurance. Not sure if Rider is available in your state.:chat:

When I got my RT S I quoted both Geico and Progressive using the VIN Number. Geico was over $800. Progressive was $470. DOH. In fact I wound up switching all my vehicle insurance from Geico to Progressive.
