I agree that Spyder fires are...
1. RARE
2. Difficult, if not impossible, to determine the cause and because of that...
3. They are an insurance issue. (And I agree with Firefly. Let it burn and buy a new one!)
Having had the banjo clip failure on the hose from the fuel pump causing gas to spew out as I tried starting the engine, I ALWAYS have my mech check all my hose clamps whenever I have my Spyder serviced.
I also replaced the banjo clip with a crimp clamp because I feel they are more reliable.
Can't hurt to be safe. "Only YOU can prevent engine fires" may not be entirely true but YOU can go a long way to minimizing the potential.
