• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder F3 Power Outlet Advertised but not there.....

My first post here. This is the body of the email that I just sent to my dealer. My position is CAN-CAM advertised it, they should resolve it. We'll see what happens, if anything. If someone here can correct my if I am wrong, please do.

I purchased a F3 on Aug 26. The CAN-AM oversized brochure that was given to me at two other dealerships says in the specs Power Outlet ...Yes.
Download the Spec Sheet and it says the same thing.

I did not have a need for the power outlet until today. There is not one that I can find.

Unless someone can point me to the power outlet location, I am requesting that Ride-Now contact CAN-AM and ask what they are going to do to resolve this issue.

I realize that this not a dealership problem, but you are the customer portal to CAN-AM.

Please let me know when you have contacted CAN-AM and what the response is.

A printing error is not an acceptable response. Even the KYMCO scooters I traded had a power outlet and I certainly expected the F3 to have one.

:welcome:

I am guessing that somewhere in the advertisement is a disclaimer in very small print about BRP being able to make changes at anytime, anywhere, etc. without consequence. All the companies do it.

Hope all works out for you though.

It is possible they are talking about the 3 accessory connections they have on the F3S. Makes it real easy to pop in an outlet for under $15. ;)

Accessory wiring

Got to agree with Shogun, there are three sets of wires on the S model set aside for accessories. One is behind the frunk, one is under the left panel and one is under the seat. They aren't labeled well and you will have to strip the protective black clothe tape, but they are there. :doorag::spyder2:

If you hit the download spec sheet button it is in there. I don't think anything will come of it, this post is more for those considering buying a F3 and looking at the same brocure that I did.

I forgot to mention that the night before I went to the dealer to purchase I downloaded the spec sheet.
Disclaimer or not, one would think the information on the CAN-AM site would be correct.

I know this is not a big deal. But after coming across some things in the owners manual that was not describe the way it should have been (I either knew already, figured it out or found the answer on this board) I feel like busting CAN-AM's chops a bit. :D

There is a power outlet under the passenger seat. Has connectors on the ends of the wire for you to connect to.

There are 2 other sets of wire taps up front for accessory power but they do not have connectors installed.

If you wish to have a socket for a 12v lighter style plug, CanAm makes that available as an option and provides the hole to mount it in under the passenger seat. But the 'outlet' is there ready to use from the factory.

How hard is it to add heated grips from the accessory outlet under the left panel?
Is it simply connecting Blue 14-16 Gauge PosiLocks? :dontknow:

The accessory lead under the left panel is much smaller in diameter than that leads used with the OEM heated grips. I guess it depends on how many watts your elements need.

There is a pair of heated grip outlets under the right covers but they require a switch up by the ignition.

Attached is a picture of the accessory lead under the left panel.

I guess it depends on your definition of "outlet" the dictionary defines it as a "receptacle providing a place in a wiring system where current can be taken to run electrical devices"

I think his point is there is no receptacle and he does make a Legal point.

The heated grips connect to plug in connectors already on the bike. The plug for the switch is already there too. They are plun n play.

BRP is calling the installed connectors the receptacle. The other two accessory locations have only taped up wire ends, no connectors. Its a stretch but in marketing speak they are covered. Just install the $8 outlet and plug in the provided wires.

Legal point.....Advertise a 1330 engine and then put in a 998 without any consumer notification anywhere.

From the Thread on the topic I think they would be beyond Fun for me to install and I can get Bike Master or Oxford premium grips for about $50- $80 and Hook up to the 2 wires under the left panel. I realize the BRP ones are Better But the Bike Master grips were good on my GS to about 40 Degrees which is about as cold as I go.

12V OUTLET

when i ordered my F3-S, i ordered the USB port which is installed under the rear seat... useless doesn't go far enough to discribe that location...
i installed my own USB 12V outlet on the dash.... much more accessible and convenient...

i fab'd a cross-member, and loaded it up with the 12V/USB adapter, and a radar-detector, garage door openner, and the USB powers my phone and the GPS & the cigar liter port powers the radar detector.... i connected it directly to the battery, and the cigar liter port can be use for a battery tender during long periods of storage... which i don't do.... works gr8.....
