• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just got stranded...2013 RTL had been running fine and driven most days. I stopped at a local place and came back out to find it wouldn't start. In fact, i do not get the warning screen where i need to press the button to start. Battery is near new. It is in neutral. I removed key for a spell and tried again with no luck. I unhooked the battery in hopes the computer would reset. The warning screen flashed for a second and disappeared. Still won't turn over. All lights and everything else works. What did i miss?

Even NEW - RECENT batteries can be defective ..... I don't think the computer can tell you " the batt. is bad " ..... If you can't test it yourself .... most auto parts stores will - for Free ..... This should be step #1. in this p[rocess ..... good luck .... Mike

True, the battery could be bad. Couldn't even get it to turnover with a jump. I'm not getting the screen i need to press the mode button to start.

Hey Chief. How long was it turned off? By design, that warning screen is skipped if was only for a few minutes, and it goes straight to the main driving screen. You didn’t mention checking the kill switch. If it’s not in run, the motor doesn’t turn over.

:agree: with Snowbellt ... if the KILL switch is OFF ...jumping won't work .... PS do not have the motor running in the veh used ..... Mike

A cheap voltmeter is a good bit of kit and is very useful with these type of problems.

Kill switch? Who knew????

Owned this several years and never touched the kill switch... Didn't even cross my mind. Yes, it was the kill switch... Must have hit it somehow. I guess I have learned my lesson...

Or…you got pranked in the parking lot by somebody who knew something about bikes. Yet another reason to make using the kill switch a habit. Glad it all worked out. Be safe out there.

You aren't the first to get caught by that.... :opps: . Nor will you be the last!

At least it was a relatively easy fix :p . and a lesson learned that few of us who've experienced it will ever forget easily!

Pleased ya got it sorted.

Cant understand the use of the kill switch in normal riding situations, cept like the last time I used it. It was on my DR 650. It was lying on its side screaming its guts out. I crawled over and shut it down.

Usual riding. No way. I use the key.

Doesn't that make you a little embarrassed.....? I know I was when it happened to me.:opps:..... Jim

Reversed their prank-----

.

The kill switch prank was pulled on me on a ride with too many strangers. I gassed up and went inside to pay. The :spyder2: wouldn't start up as usual. I turned around and looked at the " group" , flicked the Kill switch back on and laughed at them.

Some will admit it. And some won't. But we've all gotten caught on this one.

would never happen to me. I guess I am one of the few that uses it every time I shut the Spyder down. Glad is was something simple and free (that don't happen often)

As an official member of the Kill Switch Club, your in good company. I joined on my 2nd day of ownership.

:gaah: I had already called a tow truck (after 1 hour of trying to figure it out!! Lucky the guy didn't even charge me; since he was close to his next call. Boy was my face red. I actually fixed it by mistake when trying to take apart the control switch!!
